While celebrating Diwali, make sure you don't buy sweets or firecrackers from those who hate Hinduism and our festivals. Don't let them earn from your festivals while they continue to hate your Gods.
The world is celebrating Diwali by bursting crackers. My dog is spending the night hiding under the bed, trembling in fear.
Meanwhile, people with asthma are breathing polluted air, elderly people and babies are struggling with the noise, heart patients may experience distress, and birds and stray animals have nowhere to escape.
At what point did our idea of celebration become so insensitive to the people and living beings around us?
Your celebration shouldn’t have to come at the cost of someone else’s health, peace or well-being.
And before anyone makes this about religion or communalism, I celebrate Diwali too. This isn’t about religion. It’s about basic civic sense and empathy.
