I designed an escrow flow, and it still failed.

I once presented an escrow payment design to a platform and it got rejected.

Not because escrow is bad.
But because even with escrow, people are still scared to pay.

That’s when I realized something:
Trust isn’t just about protection, it’s about cash flow.

Here’s the idea that changed my thinking:

What if the platform released 70% of the money upfront on credit so the seller can fulfill the order…
and only held 30% in escrow until delivery is confirmed?

Now:
• Buyers feel protected
• Sellers aren’t cash-starved
• Platforms reduce friction
• And SMBs don’t suffer from +1 day settlement delays

It turns escrow from a “lock” into a growth engine.

Designing payments isn’t just about flows and screens.
It’s about understanding what both sides actually need to feel confident enough to transact.

That’s where real fintech UX lives.
