@wildstein Great idea, @votebergen, and while we're at it, let's ban lobbyists from being able to stroll up to the dais in the middle of a committee hearing to get the ear of a legislator about to vote on a bill. https://t.co/dTlNqyq3xy
Spotted at yesterday's Senate Budget Committee: while witnesses were still actively testifying about the need to protect independent contractors from the NJDOL's disastrous approach to worker classification, AFL-CIO Legislative Affairs Director Eric Richard gets up from the gallery & walks behind the dais like he owns the place (surprising Chairman Sarlo into temporarily halting the hearing) to confer with @SenGreenstein before her vote on the bill. She ends up being the only legislator out of 13 to abstain "because of the union testimony."
The pressure mounts! I’ll join Senator Scutari in moving legislation to preemptively fix this disaster permanently…rather than just delay. Let’s do this!
Thank you, @SenPresScutari for urging @NJGov to delay implementation of the NJDOL rule so that our concerns about the potential for negative impacts on the supply chain can be heard. Your leadership on this issue is appreciated!
NJBIA has launched a campaign urging the @NJLaborDept to pause the implementation of the #ABCtest that makes it much more difficult for workers to qualify as independent contractors. Any #freelancer or #gigworker, any business who utilizes them or consumers who benefit from them can tell @GovSherrillNJ to halt the independent contractor rule before it takes effect on Oct. 1! https://t.co/obsHEizTCX https://t.co/bcxXI5Yaq3
Unbelievable. Only one return location offered, accessible by appointment only, and there are no appointments available. No alternative is offered, there are no extensions on free time, and the per diem clock just keeps on ticking.
This is the kind of situation that makes my phone ring off the hook from motor carriers who are frustrated by the unfair and unreasonable policies surrounding the return of empty containers, and it has been happening for years. To add insult to injury, the burden of proof when per diem is charged is placed squarely on the motor carrier, even though they've already contacted the Ocean Carrier with proof in advance. Contacting customer service ahead of time to make them aware of the situation does nothing--the bills still keep coming, even when the Ocean Carrier was well aware that there was no way to return the container within free time. BCOs are stuck footing the bill, and motor carriers are caught in the middle. Ultimately, these costs are passed along to consumers, and we all end up paying the price.
Enough is enough. Something must be done to stop this egregious behavior. The Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers has been carefully documenting these cases, and we're tired of lip service--it's time for action.
Costco has been installing new “Electrify America” fast charging EV chargers
Here’s an inside look at the time it takes to charge a Rivian and the cost
- The Rivian is at 27% when she pulls in
- It will take 1 hour 10 minutes to get to 100%
- It costs $62 to charge to 94%
Based on this math I would cost About $93 for a full 0–100% charge
The range on these vehicles is typically between 300-420 on a full charge
It’s literally way cheaper to just drive a gas vehicle at these electric prices

“You could make the case that the enforcement mechanisms are already in place,” Kelly added. “You can also contend that this whole debate, at its core, is not really about protecting workers who were truly misclassified.
“If it was, a comprehensive study should have first been conducted examining whether the IRS test used before the ABC test was actually failing to detect and address unlawful misclassification at the scale being alleged.
“Instead, we are moving directly toward one of the strictest independent contractor standards in the nation at our own peril,” Kelly said.

President Trump will host a press conference at 1:30pm announcing the Freedom Haulers program, which creates a pathway for military veterans to earn a CDL and join the trucking industry. Bi-State Chairman Tom Heimgartner is at the White House today attending the press conference, which will be televised on most cable news networks. https://t.co/B8gdORkill
Watching @abbydphillip on CNN trying to tell @Jesse_Leg that 6,600 illegal voters in New Jersey is *not* widespread voter fraud
At the same time NJDOL is trying to make us all believe 700 claims per year from independent contractors *is* widespread employee misclassification
ADVISORY: On Sunday, NJ State Police conducted an impound detail at the Vince Lombardi Service Area Truck Parking Lot. Several vehicles were impounded due to abandonment in violation of the NJTA 10-hour parking limit. We anticipate additional enforcement details to be conducted. Please be guided accordingly.
Have to give credit where it’s due. @NJTRANSIT & CEO Kris Kolluri deserve credit for living up to their pledges to ensure the transportation of thousands of World Cup attendees went smoothly and safely. Our state and local police deserve kudos as well. Great job all! Now let’s work together to improve the rest of our beleaguered transit system!

We continue to hear from dispatchers who have had their booked appointments at APM Terminals disappear. If you are also experiencing these issues, please notify the terminal directly and if possible document the container numbers impacted. We are also advising that you keep track of any additional expenses incurred as a result of this ongoing service issue and bill the terminal accordingly.
