Everything that’s going on in Florida is upsetting & everyone keeps telling me how great it is that I left. Please stop saying that. It doesn’t feel great and here’s why: a 🧵🪡🐊
For me this feels like a victory, and not because they "allow" me to be here. This proves the significance & impact of research on sexual well-being, health disparities (including "pleasure" disparities), & LGBTQ+ health. It's solid. They couldn't deny it. No one can.
Who dis? ME. A GREEN CARD HOLDER 💚
Apparently those seeing my case saw the sex stuff on my CV and thought...yup we must take this one
Also my 10th yr anniversary in the US. On the left was me @ my 1st ever conference. She had no idea she'd take the pic again...as an immigrant
At conferences, I use Inigo Montoya’s guide to Networking Success (Yes, really. Otherwise I always forget to say my name🤦🏻♀️)
1. Greeting
2. Name
3. Relevant personal connection
4. What to expect from the encounter

@ac_debarros Honestly I feel like the divide in the class is “ppl who have only ever learned/used quantitative measures” vs “ppl who have used qualitative measures and already accepted all measurement is subjective at some level” lol
🚨New paper alert🚨
How can we ask about and code gender/sex in surveys?
@SarivanAnders and I developed new survey questions and a framework we call the Gender/Sex 3x3.
Co-authors: @ZSchudson and @Femme_inist
Published paper here (or DM me for pdf): https://t.co/3WE9v1t1K8
Academics are fundamentally incapable of being chill about anything, and that includes World Cup results
(This was created by @ac_debarros . After every match we have a ceremonial crossing out of the no-longer-possible outcomes. Crossing out the Swiss matches was very painful 😔)
Currently recruiting for my dissertation!
Transgender and gender diverse adults please consider participating in a survey about research.
To participate, you must be over 19 years old and reside in the U.S.
I’ve had multiple people ask me who I’m rooting for in the World Cup (multi-national family) and after today I can officially say: the country that beat both Germany and Spain and got Germany eliminated
@rsdavis0607 Since this study is for a master’s thesis, and thus sort of in a tight timeframe, we wanted to try to avoid these complications. I’m very sorry, and I appreciate that you were interested in sharing!
Please help and RT!
I'm recruiting for my thesis study looking at how people with attractions to and/or experiences with multiple genders view their sexuality. If you are interested, please email [email protected]
@rsdavis0607 Hi! From what I understand, it’s bc there are additional complications with compensating participants outside of the US/Canada, and bc some areas (like the EU) have additional laws around data collection and privacy that can make international recruitment more complicated.
