@EStreetRockets Poor NASA leadership definitely contributed. It sat without a concrete mission for the best part of a decade. Only when Bridenstine got in did it feel like there was a purpose building for it beyond just having its capability. Everyone takes blame for it imo.
@Gangsta_Playz@josefnewgarden Helps the suit and car are now pretty iconic. In a world of changing car liveries, I like it when one gets to stay. Thinking like the Players, Targets and Marlboros in the old days.
@_FrankyPi@HalcyonHypnotic @Amateur_Astro1 I once tried to explain to someone who thought every other rocket was pointless when Starship exists. At that point I just assume they know nothing about Satellites, Payloads or the Industry. There's a strange breed of fans out there that refuse to learn stuff like that.
@semiColin__ @KenKirtland17 Technically these Starship flights are classed as Sub Orbital per the FAA licensing. So if we want to get technical either Starship doesn't make the list or New Shepard slots into 2nd place. Be nice if the rules are fair for all...
@Gerar59478@Mach7Matt Can't deny they are really accelerating development of a lot of rockets and their SHLVs. But I don't see how they would take market share away from western companies, especially when ITAR and DoD stuff come into play. But their own exploration sure, be good to watch
@MrKhagol@Gundermgg I don't think NASA funded crews will be flying on Starship. Dragon 2 has a place long into the 2030s. Starship may turn out to be a jack of all trades perhaps, but it will be a master of none. Sometimes you need that specialised LV. Or SpaceX will lose that part of the market.
@Ac64940893@RealAikiRhino@Mach7Matt A fair amount changed with it. As did Starship. I still remember SpaceX announcing dear moon for a 2023 Launch but no one yaps on about them being late... We're getting reusable heavy lift across the industry, just enjoy it and don't put others down π€·
@HipernovaStar @Amateur_Astro1 Thankfully HLS will have more of the aesthetic I like, the clean white and black designs. But I know so many out there love the ruggedness of SH that I'm probably in the minority overall. Stainless just makes me see a grain silo.
@OV__101 So happy to see SpaceX get to this point. I've been optimistically skeptical since 2011 when I started supporting them, but each time they've proved they're the real deal. Gonna be a great few decades ahead of us.
@OV__101 Still people out there focusing on the haters than just enjoying the moment. Let them fade into obscurity with no relevancy. This place has turned into a point scoring community, can't just let things go and enjoy the moment without trying and putting others down.
@HalcyonHypnotic @Amateur_Astro1 The extremes are both as bad as each other. Seen truly awful stuff lately from both sides. Doesn't surprise me though, tech industry communities tend to go this way and no doubt it's more charged due to being a political year. Just wish it would feel a little nicer around here.
@HalcyonHypnotic @Amateur_Astro1 And that can both be said for other companies. There's bad eggs in most fanbases. But SpaceX's are starting to get a nasty reputation. And it saddens me because the goal of space is all encompassing. It should be a celebration for everyone doing it the more the merrier.
@HalcyonHypnotic @Amateur_Astro1 It's actually getting to the point the companies themselves are engaging in better faith than their fans. It's absurd to imagine that 10+ years ago. Love SpaceX but their toxic following has been growing big time, it feels so different to supporting them in 2011.
@Truthful_ast Honestly in reflection chopsticks is a way easier target than the original concept of actually landing on the launch mount. Awesome to see it finally pay off. Been nearly 10 years of development and hype and it's all coming together.
@TheTitanIIIGuy Still seems that they have a fair way to find the the TPS. I wonder how long it's going to take to get to the non refurb point they want to be at. Especially when they start sending them places and back.
@Orbital_Perigee Well they've had nearly 300 successful landings. I think that counts for something I was never doubting them. It looked as easy as it should for them. Its why Blue has a "decent" shot at landing New Glenn. Thought RTLS is a stationary and easier target.
