God's faithfulness is a cornerstone of our faith. The Bible assures us that "The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does" (Psalm 145:13). His steadfastness is reflected in Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." In light of God's unwavering faithfulness, we are encouraged to remain steadfast in our own faith and commitments, trusting in His perfect timing and plan for our lives (Hebrews 10:23).
If you are feeling spiritually dry or distant from God, know that you are not alone. Many of us experience this. In fact, the psalmist in Psalm 119:25 expresses a similar sentiment, saying “his soul cleaves to the dust.” In the Bible, dust often symbolizes spiritual barrenness. However, the psalmist does not want to remain in this state. He pleads with God to revive him, but importantly, he asks for this revival in accordance with God's word. God can bring about a spiritual revival in your life through His word. So, if you are feeling spiritually dry, the best place to turn is God’s word. It is the living Word, and through it, God revives and restores.
Repeated sins often feel easier to commit as we become desensitized to their wrongness. Ignoring God's guidance leads us down a path of increasing hardness of heart. To rekindle our sensitivity to God, we can invest time in reading and applying His Word to our lives. By being receptive to God's teachings and following them faithfully, our hearts become soften and we can live according to His will.
Often times we are so busy finding God's hand in the micro-events of our life that we have blinded ourselves from the hand of God through the macro-events of our lives. God is not just working in the here & now, but he has been working throughout our lives.
Attending church, engaging in prayer, and participating in fellowship with fellow believers can be motivated by either genuine love and reverence for God or simply by habit. In order for our worship to be pleasing to God and receive His favor, it is essential that these acts stem from a sincere desire to truly know and love Him. It is not merely about going through the motions out of routine, but rather about cultivating a deep and authentic connection with God. When our actions are driven by a heartfelt devotion to God, our worship becomes a reflection of our genuine love and reverence for Him.
“Christians are hypocrites.”
I agree. We’re sinners and regularly fall short of our calling, though true Christians repent and gradually grow in godliness over time.
That’s why we need Jesus—not because we’re good, but because we’re bad. Only God is good (Mark 10:18).
Pride flaunts "I don't need help from anybody." Envy drools "I want what they have." But Christ—that is Love himself—not just humbles us, but helps us; not just provides, but also satisfies.
God's anger toward sin and the wicked is part of His righteous character, as Psalm 7:11 illustrates. Despite our focus on His love and mercy, His anger and judgment also aim to restore love among people. He hates anything harmful, like idolatry or cruelty, because He loves us all. His justice urges us to treat others rightly. If you're struggling with sin, confess and turn away from it. Confession opens the door to God's abundant mercy, freely offered to all.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
These verses encourage us to turn our worries into prayers. It reminds us that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, we should approach God with a thankful heart and present our needs to Him. The promise is that the peace of God, which is beyond our human understanding, will guard our hearts and minds. This means that even in the midst of turmoil, we can experience a sense of peace and calm that comes from knowing that God is in control.
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” - Isaiah 43:2
When life submerges you in its deepest waters, remember you are not alone. The strength to navigate the currents comes from Yahweh who is always with us.
I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most glorious creature that I could think of. For to have been thought about - born in God's thoughts
- and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest, most precious thing in all thinking.
