Hats off to doctoral student and podcaster Zhong Shu in Beijing, China, who did this fascinating and smart interview with Christopher Nolan about THE ODYSSEY yesterday, originally posted to Bilibili.
A great listen/watch.

Spanking kids when they mess up, but giving adults a free pass? It's a bit backward. Think about it: adults, who've had years to learn right from wrong, they screw up and what happens? Maybe a conversation, maybe nothing. But kids? They're just starting to figure life out, and bam, they get hit for making a mistake. Doesn't make much sense.
Kids are like little scientists, experimenting with the world, learning as they go. And yeah, they're gonna make a ton of mistakes – it's part of growing up. Hitting them for it, though, that's like punishing them for not being born knowing everything. It's not just unfair; it's counterproductive.
There are so many better ways to handle it. Sit down with them, talk about what went wrong, help them understand why it's not okay. Teach them, guide them. That's how they learn. Spanking just teaches them to be scared of messing up, not to understand why something is a mistake.
We've got to remember, we're raising future adults here. The goal is to help them become smart, responsible people, not just kids who are too scared to step out of line.
How we handle their mistakes now is building the foundation for how they'll handle life later on.
Let's build it right!!
