Rensia de Wet, a dedicated veterinarian at the Notthinghill Equestrian Centre outside White River in Mpumalanga, was brutally raped and murdered in her own home. On that Tuesday afternoon in 2014, neighbors found her half-naked body in her bedroom at around 16:30. She had been viciously raped and repeatedly stabbed with a knife in the neck and chest. This was a savage, personal violation that ended the life of a professional woman who cared for animals and served her community.

The police opened a murder docket, but no arrests were made at the time according to reports. Her killer was later identified and reportedly died in prison years afterward.

These monsters break into homes, rape, and slaughter with impunity. How many more veterinarians, farmers, mothers, and families must suffer this horror?
