Please do your research well. Do not tarnish professional associations.
There are professional associations, and there are regulatory bodies for some of these professional associations.
The Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is a professional association not by government creation but by willing members. It is self funded and has not received funding from the government since 1969 except possibly one-off donations. Similarly, the likes of NIQ, NIOB, NSE, etc.
However, most of these professional associations have corresponding government created regulatory bodies. For where I belong, there is the Quantity Surveyor Registration Board of Nigeria, QSRBN, which was established by the Act of Parliament.
You need to differentiate between professional associations and government regularisation bodies, which were the creation of the Act of Parliament.
Since these are government creation, they fund them through their supervising Ministries. Until recently say some 5 years ago, they have stopped funding. This is not a new phenomenon.
I tell you, for a fact, this is not where the leakages are in our nation. Funding these regulatory bodies is just a tip of iceberg to our national budget.
These bodies issue licenses, permit etc and regulate the practice of these professions, of government stops funding, and they have lost control, my opinion, though. It's like you stopped funding NAFDAC and SON.
Please, we need to be adequately guided. Everything is not politics. These are noble professional associations and must not be dragged into politics, please.

@StFreakingKezy This is misinformation at its peak!
Please, if you don't understand something, do your research.
BTW, would you be able to provide evidence in the court that these respectable professional associations are government funded?
