Portland Fentanyl Crisis

For three years, federal prosecutors have been forced to confront what Portland’s streets made painfully clear: fentanyl trafficking had become an entrenched public-safety crisis.

Since 2023, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, working with the FBI and Portland Police Bureau, has federally prosecuted more than 100 defendants accused of trafficking fentanyl in downtown Portland.

Those cases have produced staggering seizures: more than 100 kilograms of fentanyl, over 40 firearms, and approximately $1.3 million in suspected drug proceeds.

According to the figures cited by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, more than 80% of those defendants were nationals of Honduras and Mexico who were unlawfully present in Oregon. The amount of fentanyl seized was enough, based on the commonly used lethal-dose estimate, to potentially kill tens of millions of people.

And those numbers may not capture the full scale of the problem. In cases where immigration authorities remove individuals before federal criminal charges can be brought, those people may never appear in the federal prosecution statistics—meaning the documented cases could represent only a fraction of the trafficking activity investigators encountered.

This is what happens when open-air drug markets are allowed to flourish while local systems struggle to hold street-level traffickers accountable.

A sanctuary policy cannot be allowed to become a shield from accountability.

Compassion for vulnerable people and enforcement against organized drug trafficking are not mutually exclusive. A government can welcome immigrants while still demanding that anyone who traffics deadly drugs, carries illegal firearms, or repeatedly preys upon vulnerable communities face consequences.

Portland does not need excuses for fentanyl dealers. It needs enforcement, prosecution, accountability, and policies that put public safety first.

The Statue of Liberty’s promise of refuge should never be twisted into a promise of immunity for criminal conduct.

Tina Kotek’s latest scare tweet is peak progressive gaslighting.
Christine Drazan has never “spent her entire legislative career attacking the reproductive rights of Oregonians.” That’s pure fiction. She wasn’t even in the Legislature when Kotek and the Dems passed the 2017 Reproductive Health Equity Act that turned Oregon into one of the most extreme abortion states in the country, taxpayer funded abortions up to the moment of birth, no meaningful limits. Drazan has been crystal clear, she is pro life, she supports common sense protections (especially after viability), she would veto any bill that pushes Oregon even further outside the mainstream and she will enforce the law as written. Period.
Oregon law already locks in abortion access. Drazan has said it over and over. Kotek knows it. Yet every election cycle she reaches for the same tired playbook, scream “she’ll ban abortion!” while Portland burns, kids can’t read, fentanyl is cheaper than a latte, and the middle class is fleeing the state she helped ruin.
Drazan has spent her career fighting for safer streets, better schools, lower costs, and parents’ rights, actual issues Oregonians live with every day. Kotek’s record is open borders for abortion tourism, open borders for chaos, and endless lectures about “reproductive justice” while the state collapses around her.
This isn’t about protecting Oregon women. It’s about protecting a radical status quo that most Oregonians don’t actually support. Keep lying, Tina. Voters are noticing. Prove Me Wrong.

DSA leader gets sued for eviction while living off his rich dad’s $1.5 million townhouse.

Gustavo Gordillo, co-chair of the New York City Democratic Socialists of America, is facing an eviction lawsuit after stiffing his landlord on three months of $2,500 rent for a Crown Heights apartment.

Court records show he moved in while a $1.5 million Brooklyn townhouse gifted by his wealthy father underwent renovations.

He skipped payments, paid a lump sum after falling behind, then fell behind again.

The landlord sued for the unpaid balance. Gordillo never even filed an answer in housing court.

This is the same activist who rails against landlords, property ownership, and people making returns on real estate.

His own family bought the townhouse for under $1 million in 2019 through an LLC. Its value has risen sharply. While the renovations happened, the socialist co-chair rented elsewhere and treated the rent like an optional suggestion.

The pattern is familiar. Preach redistribution and class warfare. Enjoy the benefits of private capital when it is your own family’s. Then fail to pay the working landlord who actually provides housing.

Hypocrisy this blatant should not surprise anyone who has watched the DSA operate. It still deserves to be highlighted every time it surfaces.

This might be one of the dumbest “gotchas” I’ve seen in a while.

Buckle in, it’s a long one🤣

A cooking series shows Americans how to make real meals for about $5 per serving, and the response is to go grocery shopping, spend around $70 buying all the ingredients, and announce:

“Actually, this meal costs $70.”

No.

You spent $70.

You did not eat $70.

If the recipe uses one egg, you calculate the cost of ONE EGG. You don’t charge the meal for the entire carton because the other 11 eggs are still sitting in your refrigerator.

If the recipe uses two tablespoons of mayonnaise, the meal did not consume the entire jar.

If it uses part of an onion, you still own the rest of the onion.

Those groceries make more food.

That is literally how grocery shopping works.

And yes, there is a legitimate conversation to have about upfront grocery costs. Someone may need $50 or $70 available to stock their kitchen before they can turn those groceries into multiple inexpensive meals. That absolutely matters.

But upfront grocery cost and cost per serving are two completely different numbers.

I teach people how to eat on a budget. I have shown people over and over again how to make meals for under $5 per person.

That does not mean I walk into the grocery store with $5 and ask the cashier to sell me two eggs, four slices of bacon, and 1/17th of a stick of butter.

I buy groceries. Then I make multiple meals with them.

And some of the arguments being made to defend this are even more bizarre.

“Well, what if someone doesn’t already have the ingredients?”

Then they buy them. And now they have them for the next meal.

“What if they don’t own pots and pans?”

Okay. But are we calculating the price of the frying pan into every meal they cook for the rest of their life?

If the actual ingredient prices used in the original recipe are inaccurate, challenge those prices. That’s completely fair.

But pretending the entire purchase price of every package belongs to ONE meal isn’t a fact check. It’s comparing two different things.

We should WANT people to know how to take $50 or $70 worth of groceries and turn them into multiple affordable meals.

We should WANT people to learn how to cook at home.

We should WANT people to understand that eating real food does not automatically require spending $20 or $30 every time they sit down to eat.

Of all the things worth criticizing, teaching people how to make affordable meals at home should not be one of them.

The groceries do not disappear after you make dinner.

Be so fucking for real.

Oh please, Tina. “Hunger as a political weapon”? The only weapon here is the one Democrats have used for decades: turning SNAP into an open ended entitlement so every able bodied Tom, Dick, and Jose can stay on the couch instead of working.
HR 1 didn’t invent cruelty. It simply restored the radical idea that if you’re healthy enough to vote blue every November, you’re healthy enough to meet basic work requirements. Thirty five thousand people losing benefits doesn’t mean Oregon is starving it means 35,000 people who were never supposed to be permanent dependents just lost their free ride.

Oh look, Tina Kotek is out here bragging about signing a bill that forces Oregon taxpayers to permanently bankroll Planned Parenthood after the feds finally stopped the gravy train.
Real bold leadership: when Washington says “no more Medicaid cash for the nation’s largest abortion provider,” Salem’s answer is “hold my craft IPA, we’ll just raid the state budget instead.” Care, no matter what, as long as it’s funded by people who never consented to subsidize it.
Christine Drazan voted against backfilling that funding. Correctly. Because most Oregonians aren’t thrilled about writing blank checks to an organization that does far more abortions than pap smears while crying poverty every time the federal spigot gets turned down. “Essential healthcare” is a nice slogan until you notice the part where the essential service is ending pregnancies and then sending the invoice to taxpayers who think life begins a little earlier than the Planned Parenthood schedule.
The choice is clear. One candidate treats state dollars like an ATM for her preferred ideological clients. The other notices that Oregon already ranks near the top in taxpayer funded abortions and still somehow has record homelessness, failing schools, and tent cities. Priorities.
Drazan’s the one who doesn’t need a ceremonial signing at the clinic to remind everyone whose side she’s on. Kotek just told you. 🇺🇸 🐺
