It's not every day you get to become your favorite Final Fantasy character (his coloring is almost identical, I must buy him a red cape now). #cosplaygoals
Last #mtg EDH game:
- P1 makes 200+ spirits
- P2 resolves Fumigate, gains 200+ life
- P3 (Me) clones Avenger of Zendikar 4 times, adding 500 power to the board
- P1 resolves Inkshield after a full swing
- P3 could cast K Leviathan to reset, but concedes instead.
@golgariguy I would say anything requiring the player to use more resources to do what they normally would, or could lock them from taking any actions, is Stax or Stax-adjacent. Manabarbs is fun until damage is tripled and nobody can play a spell ever again.
@BudgetCommander The often used spells-matter AT is not great when you should be playing 2/3 of your spells as creatures.
Blue in general has often been weaker in limited with exceptions, and red often only does the 1 thing it does well: aggro. Red "rooms" doesn't seem like a thing in DM limited.
There's been a lot of broad finger-wagging at the community for being toxic. Can we get actual consequences for individuals responsible? Bans from social media likely too great an ask but bans from Magic events would be a good start. #mtg
@sporef4g@GayOliveGarden At this point I'm more than fine ignoring any of their sweeping changes going forward outside of major conventions. Rule 0 means not needing a rules committee on a casual format.
Can we just not have a rules committee for EDH? Leave it in the hands of players and individual play groups, acknowledge the pre-2024 banlist, and maybe stop designing bad cards going forward? #mtg#edh
In partnership with the Commander Rules Committee, today we're starting a conversation about changes to the management of Commander and its future: https://t.co/a89UZOCZeE
@FrankLepore Yep. Just about every version of these cards I opened in sealed product or draft and I have sold cards like these to help maintain my ability to participate in the hobby. Affected more than just MTG finance people.
I'm fine with this. Dockside needed to go. Rule 0 convo's I've had rarely discussed fast mana as opposed to oppressive play styles. Crypt/Lotus weren't common bc they were price prohibitive so I don't think their bans will be as impactful.
Probably should have done Sol Ring, too
New Banlist update and they’re the most impactful we have seen in a long time! What are your thoughts? Any cards that didn’t deserve it? Any that should have made the list instead? Surprised nothing got unbanned?
BANNED:
Dockside Extortionist
Mana Crypt
Jeweled Lotus
Nadu, Winged Wisdom
@Rhythmik Maybe this was the case for smaller or more reputable studios but I've always felt this was the case even 15+ years ago. As QA in AAA, you were never treated or paid well and laid off at the drop of a hat.
Mulligan'd 8 times at a 3 round limited FNM, which seems about my average now. Feels bad consistently losing games before the first card is played. #mtg
