Congratulations to everyone that matched, ESPECIALLY, the incredible first generation physicians and physicians of color. It’s truly a victory for everyone but it’s a greater achievement and win for the URM students. So so proud of everyone ✊🏾✊🏿
If today didn’t go as planned, please remember: You are NOT alone. Many incredible physicians have taken alternative paths to residency. Keep pushing, keep believing, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your future patients still need you. #Match2025
I matched!! Going to be a physiatrist. Thank you for all the people along the way who believed in me. This process would not have been possible without you!
Unfortunately not the news I wanted to receive this morning, but this does not end my pursuit of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Would love any advice on research positions and how to move forward from this setback. #match2025#orthopedics#medtwitter
Both of my mentees matched. We LOVEEEE to see it 🥹
Big congratulations to everyone that matched and sending good vibes to all who are participating in the SOAP process 🩷
Don’t buy this for a minute.
The MD shortage is manufactured by Congress. It exists because of corruption.
The number of residency training spots is capped by Congress under the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. While medical schools have increased enrollment to address physician shortages, the number of residency slots—required for graduates to become licensed physicians—has not grown proportionally due to a lack of federal funding for graduate medical education via Medicare.
This bottleneck disproportionately affects underserved areas, including inner cities and rural communities, where physician shortages are the worst.
Let’s talk about it 🧵
No one told me how mentally draining it would be to get through this IM year…. I don’t think there has been one day where I’ve not felt like a bird brain.
Pre-lim year is funny because one week I’m talking with patients on a psych rotation about methadone and the next I’m on a niche derm rotation learning about vulvar lesions.
Although the variety is fun, this is me every time I pass the rehab hospital
I think the biggest residency adjustment for me has been missing out on church EVERY Sunday
watching it online after the fact is just not the same and trying to escape the feelings of disconnect is extremely difficult 😭
