My grandfather bought this shack at a lake over 60 years ago. He is a trout fisherman. The population in this town is 28.
When Covid hit, my nice 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house was rented out to tenants, so my girlfriend and I came back from overseas and lived here for 4 months.
Each day I went outside and got the firewood, so we could keep warm, during the evening.
During the mornings we sat out in the front yard. Silence, listening to the birds and wildlife. We also walked around the big lake.
It was here, in 2020, we dreamed bigger than ever. And it was here, we decided not to move back to our previous home of Bali but to take off to Europe.
The lessons of this moment in time were profound:
1. There is absolute magic in simplicity. Financially and in lifes every day tasks.
2. Simplicity clears the mind, but also allows you to pivot and dream big.
3. It is easier to make exciting changes when you live simply.
4. The ability to be present is amplified as the mind is not clogged with things that don't matter.
This little adventure stop led us to:
- a 30,000km roadtrip around Australia
- Living in Croatia
- Visiting 10 other countries
- Currently living in Thailand.
After 7 years of slow travel and simplicity I feel so alive.
My previous life at university and a finance career brought with it anxiety, stress, and lack of purpose and meaning.
Has simplicity positively impacted your life?
@scott_crough@JoshGarlepp Its just because so many people are searching it so its suggesting it. Perfect sense. And no doubt you searched it as you're talking about it here
@bold_perception Yeah so much magic there, also, Istria is like Tuscany and has incredible Italian culture. Check out Rovinj and Italian presence. Your lady will love it.
@taylorkenneyitm Heaps of people know this. And you're not wrong in theory. But guess what. It is 2026. Everything is out the window. Patterns are irrelevent. At this point you just have to go for it.... right now. And collect some of the trillions out there. No other option
