Two things can be true at once, and indeed, the Democrats and black activists have themselves in a bind for the very reason you astutely pointed out

"Black Power" has done little but create violent and ruined neighborhoods for black Americans, despite the fact that black Americans have every option and opportunity open to them as anyone else

What you deciphered there is the very reason black activists and Democrats have no integrity... because everyone knows that their ridiculous activism hurts only themselves. Meanwhile, they could actually be going out and making ANY lives for themselves they want to make
