@Kpopggstan1 Other than passing on Anne Cherkowski in the 1st round last year to draft Karvinen (who would have been there in round 2), I don’t think anyone could argue that she’s made a single mistake as a GM so far.
@MikeMcMahonCHN Does this mean the practice of “re-classing” New England Prep School students will now burn a year of eligibility if it happens after grade 8?
@mayaxeverysport The NHLPA fought hard for public salary disclosure years ago. They knew salaries would escalate more quickly in a system where “comparables” were publicly available to be used as negotiation tools.
@mayaxeverysport Gardiner and Jaques have to be locks if willing to sign long term. If Nurse wants to go east let her go & keep Miller instead. CT’s spot will be filled by Harvey. So hard to score goals in this league. Anyone who can do it needs to be protected. Goalies/D are easier to replace.
@Sid_Seixeiro In fairness to Bayern, if Davies is treated in the Canadian health system he won’t get into a specialist for at least 6 months and will be scheduled for an MRI sometime in 2027 anyways so there’s that…
@IanKennedyCK@TheoAvedisian Over 40% per game in Vancouver. From $600 for 13 games to $975 for 15 (2 seats). That’s assuming they don’t take 2 away for takeover tour slots again. I’m ok with paying more if the players get proportionate pay increases. If salaries stay the same, this is tough to swallow.
@spcld2k@IanKennedyCK Expansion teams need to be competitive or you run the risk of them failing financially. I understand it’s tough for fans to lose top/favorite players. That’s why many feel the league should expand by 4 & only subject their fanbase to this pain one more time instead of two.
@CreaseGiants I’m starting to think that WoHo is in desperate need of more self-policing. I’m not talking about bare knuckle fights but it’s gotten to the point where you can do anything you want out there. The worst you’ll get is 2-5 minutes in the box & someone might say bad words to you.
Here is a go fund me for 12 year old Maya and her family who is a little hockey player from Tumbler Ridge.

@PatLaprade@IanKennedyCK 2/2 in similar fashion, I think Canada needs to look at the 05-08 birth years that have been dominating the u18 level for 4 years. (2024 upset by the Czechs notwithstanding) If HC invests heavily into these players like the US did, it may produce similar results.
@PatLaprade@IanKennedyCK 1/2 If you look at past U18 national teams, you can see that the US identified their 01-04 birth year players as a special group (gold in 2018) and began to invest in them and bring them to national program events, camps, games, etc. That investment is paying off now.
@CreaseGiants Such a good point. The 05,06, & 07 birth years in Canada had more success. If Canada wants to reverse course, maybe the time to start investing in Manness, Alexander, Swiderski, Iginla, Zablocki, Maynard, Murphy, Stonehouse, Amos, Grober, Murdoch, Cimoroni, Graham, etc is now.
Number of players on other teams who are younger than Canada's youngest skater (Jennifer Gardiner):
USA: 9
Czechia: 12
Finland: 9
Switzerland: 12
Sweden: 11
Japan: 11
Germany: 10
Italy: 9
France: 12

@CreaseGiants Anne Cherkowski is the obvious one to me. Not sure why Swiderski at OSU isn’t being talked about more either. If Sarah Paul could stay healthy, she’d also be at the top of my list.
Lack of youth isn’t the reason for all the losses though…
@CreaseGiants Honest question here. Why do we not count the Canada Winter Games that happen in place of the National Championships every 4th year? Team Atlantic beat Ontario Red in the semis two years ago and went on to win silver. They’ve eliminated Ontario 2 of the last 3 years now.
