FRAUD ALERT – Vendor/Event Registration Scam
The Brantford Police are warning business owners to be vigilant after several small businesses in Brantford have fallen victim to vendor registration scams.

Recently, scammers have been contacting local businesses while impersonating the Director of Business Operations with the Brantford Bulldogs. The fraudster promotes fake vendor opportunities and requests a payment of $500 to secure a booth at an upcoming event.

⚠️ Protect Yourself:
• Verify all vendor opportunities directly through the organization using official contact information.
• Be cautious of unsolicited emails, phone calls, or social media messages requesting payment.
• Never send money before confirming the legitimacy of an event or vendor opportunity.
• Watch for pressure tactics or requests for immediate payment.

🔍 Red Flags to Watch For:
• Requests for e-transfers or unusual payment methods.
• Generic email addresses or contact information that does not match the organization's official channels.
• Poor grammar, spelling errors, or inconsistent details.
• Offers that seem urgent or too good to be true.

💡 When in doubt, verify before you pay. A quick phone call to the organization using publicly listed contact information can help prevent fraud.
