Meta can't stop spending on AI, and neither can anyone else.
Alex Kantrowitz (@Kantrowitz) : "You continue to raise money and raise debt in order to keep funding this, maybe even an equity event, or you pack up your bag and go home."
Alex Kantrowitz (@Kantrowitz) on a Tesla-SpaceX merger: "I think it's inevitable. It does make all the sense in the world."
"The big thing on the merger front is robotics."
Google CEO @sundarpichai: “The compute we have today is a function of decisions I made in 2024.”
“If today a customer is coming out and asking us for compute in '27, that is incredibly difficult to do.”
Will AI replace screens?
Google CEO @sundarpichai: “Computing historically has been humans adapting to computing. With AI, it’ll be the other way around. The technology will adapt seamlessly to how humans live and go about their day-to-day lives.”
Google CEO @sundarpichai: “We’re pretty far from the end state of RSI.”
What it looks like today: “You almost have agents helping AI researchers in some automated way work together to build these models.”
Can AI be overbuilt? Google CEO Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai) didn’t dodge it:
“You could get constrained at some point. There could be things which cause bottlenecks and then you could have [overbuilds]. There could be external shocks right to the economy.”
His bet anyway: “Am I confident that the compute we are planning for we will have uses for it given enough time? Absolutely yes.”
Sundar Pichai (@sundarpichai), CEO @Google : “Nobody would want to code the way they were coding 3 years ago or even same time last year. Every part of code we now touch is influenced by AI deeply.”

New: I spoke with @sundarpichai about Google's commitment to the AI frontier, how close we are to RSI, balancing DeepMind's compute needs vs. Google Cloud profits, and much, much more.

Alex Kantrowitz (@Kantrowitz), reports on @WSJ coverage of AI company security: "At a San Francisco playground, a stranger tried to befriend an OpenAI employee who was there with their child...in the process of making small talk, asked questions about their work. It was not idle curiosity. The stranger was a spy."
Kevin Roose (@kevinroose): "Google had all of the resources, all of the talent. They made all of the breakthroughs. They had all the ingredients except for belief. The leaders of that company did not believe in AGI the way that people like Dario and Sam and Demis do."
Where is AI headed next, and what will separate lasting change from the hype?
@Kantrowitz and @kevinroose unpack how AI is reshaping technology, business and the way we work.
More perspectives on the future of technology to come through our partnership with @BigTechPod.
My strongest AI opinion lasted until I saw this spa sign.
Someone prompted an AI for a sign. It made a picture of a sign outside a spa. They printed it. And put it on a sign.
A sign of a sign of a spa. I'm sold. 🫠
🚀AI just let a 5-person team build what used to take an army. So what actually separates the startups winning from the ones just moving fast?
I’m sitting down live with Iccha Sethi, @TrustVanta's SVP of Engineering, to talk through the patterns we’re seeing before they become conventional wisdom, demos vs. production-ready AI agents, and where small teams actually have the edge. Join us 👇
