One thing I really wish people would take seriously is taking medication without proper guidance.

Some people feel unwell, walk into a pharmacy, mention a few symptoms, buy whatever is suggested and start taking it without asking what the medicine actually does, what side effects it can cause, what dose is safe, or whether it can react with something else they’re already taking.

Herbal medicines worry me too, especially unregistered products. People hear herbal or natural and assume it cannot harm them, but that is not true. Something can be natural and still affect your liver, kidneys, blood pressure or interact with other medicines.

Not every medicine needs a prescription, but please don’t swallow things casually just because they are easy to buy. Anything you put into your mouth and swallow deserves caution. Ask questions, read the label, check the dosage and make sure you know what you are taking and why.
