@esaagar Yeah sure some percent of the population, but for many others it frees up room for personal and self growth. More time to bond with family and friends and perhaps reinstate a sense of community that we've lost this century.
Just rewatched the Vanderbilt/Auburn game. And I have thoughts. TL;DR: Offense wasn't as bad as you thought, and defense was great.
1. Literal first play of the game Strand pushes down Deshawn Spencer instead of a Vandy defender, and it's a tackle for no gain. Getting Cobb out in space is 100% the right idea, though. I'm not sure why we insist on trying to run the inside zone with Cobb, because Mabson is so much better at it. We should be running Cobb off tackle or in sweeps/pitches. Assuming the OL will block for him.
2. There is a disconnect between Byrum Brown's passing vision and his running vision. The guy is elite at reading blocks and running lanes, but can't see wide open guys some times. He needs 5+ designed runs a game, and needs to scramble another 5 times at least. Let him cook.
3. The interception wasn't Brown's fault. Was it a tight window? Kinda. But it hit the WR in the chest, then the hands, and then up in the air for the pick. A lot of our fanbase thinks it was a bad throw, but it was actually a dot into a tight spot, and the kid couldn't handle it.
4. We're getting a lot of missed tackles on defense because our guys are coming in like heat-seeking missles. Both Atkins and Melendez had great games, but could've had even better ones. Curtis was just nimble enough to avoid about 4 or 5 extra sacks, even though we ended up with tons. Happened to Mathis too.
5. Winters has got to stop with the facemasks. He's had 3 this season already. He won the Baylor game, but he's now routinely extended drives that should've ended because of personal fouls.
6. I'm BEGGING Auburn to run an actual QB Zone Read. At least 4 different plays would've been big gainers for Brown had he ripped it out.
7. Auburn's defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage, as they have in every game except Florida. We've got some DUDES there.
8. Vandy's offensive line was just way too slow. Any time they tried to pull a guard, we blew it up. That was consistent throughout the entire game.
9. The entire season, I've been pleasantly surprised by how well our linebackers and edges have been able to diagnose and cover the little chip/out routes from tight ends and RBs. So many times in the past, those plays would be wide open against us, but we've keyed on those really well.
10. Vandy trying a fake punt and getting it stuffed, and then getting a punt blocked for a TD is hilarious. Their special teams coordinator was in shambles.
11. Auburn TE 81 is getting cooked in outside blocking. Multiple big gains wiped out because he couldn't put down a much smaller DB.
12. Jared Curtis had 2 throws to the right sideline on Pleasant that were unbelievable. 25 yard bombs that came down into the bucket. No way to stop that.
13. Singleton has amazing hands. He catches every ball that Ricardo Louis ever dropped.
14. We ran tunnel screens a few times, and each one was a single arm tackle away from breaking a big gain. I can almost guarantee you that we'll see this a bunch more times against Tennessee.
