NDC IMO STATE REMAINS FORMIDABLE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF BARR. REGINALD UWAKWE.

The attention of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Imo State has been drawn to recent discussions and speculations regarding the leadership and direction of our great party. I wish to categorically state that the NDC in Imo State remains one united, formidable, and indivisible family under the undisputed leadership of Hon. Barr. Reginald Uwakwe.

As a committed stakeholder and loyal member of this great movement, I align fully with the recent resolutions and clarifications made during the strategic meeting with the State Executive Committee, Zonal Chairmen, Local Government Area Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, and Secretaries at the state secretariat on 11/07/2026.

It is imperative to reaffirm that the executives elected during the congresses held on May 1, 2, and 4, 2026, emerged through a transparent, constitutional, and democratic process. These executives, led by Hon. Barr. Reginald Uwakwe, remain the only recognised leadership of the NDC in Imo State. No individual or group has the authority to remove, suspend, or replace any duly elected officer outside the provisions of our party’s constitution. We stand firmly by our leadership and reject any attempt to create factions or undermine the collective will of our members.

The NDC is a movement built on the principles of justice, equity, and the Nigerian dream of a better future under the visionary leadership of Peter Obi. To achieve this noble objective, we must eschew rancour, bitterness, and anti-party activities. I join our State Chairman in urging all members to embrace forgiveness, peace, and love. Those who have been offended should forgive, and those who have offended others should seek reconciliation. This is the only path to lasting unity and sustainable progress.

The NDC is a party of law and order. We will not tolerate any conduct capable of undermining the growth, stability, and reputation of our party. Disciplinary measures will be taken against anyone found engaging in rumour-mongering, character assassination, hatred, or any form of anti-party activity. Let it be known that we respect the chain of command: Ward Chairmen answer to Local Government Area Chairmen, LGA Chairmen answer to Zonal Chairmen, Zonal Chairmen answer to the State Chairman, and the State Chairman remains accountable and loyal to the National Chairman and national leadership of our party.

Let us never lose sight of our primary mission: to work tirelessly towards the emergence of Peter Obi as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Under the leadership of Barr. Reginald Uwakwe, we are intensifying grassroots mobilisation, strengthening our structures, and sensitising the public on the need for a new Nigeria. We are resolute, and we are ready.

Finally! The NDC in Imo State is not divided; it is growing stronger. We remain formidable, focused, and fully prepared for the political tasks ahead. I call on all party faithful to disregard any narrative of discord and to continue working harmoniously with our State Chairman and the entire executive committee.

Dauda Lawal inaugurates $200m lithium processing plant in Zamfara

Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, has inaugurated a $200 million lithium mining and processing plant in Boko village, Zurmi LGA of the state.

The facility, Zamfara Lithium Mining and Processing Plant, is a joint investment by ZAM Mining Company Ltd, Bima Mines Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co. Ltd, and other partners.

Speaking at the inauguration on Saturday, Lawal said the project marks a major step towards industrialising Zamfara’s solid minerals sector through local processing and value addition.

GENERAL HYDROCARBONS FLOORS FBN AS APEX COURT SETS ASIDE APPEAL COURT DECISION

The Supreme Court has set aside the Judgment of the Court of Appeal which ordered the seizure of an oil vessel and its cargo of crude oil belonging to General Hydrocarbons Limited (GHL) to settle a dispute over alleged breach of contract with the First Bank of Nigeria.

In a unanimous judgment, the a five-member panel of the apex court ordered the return of the ceased vessel and the proceeds from the sale of its content back to its rightful owner, the GHL.

In setting aside the decision, the Apex Court said the Federal High Court was wrong to have assumed jurisdiction in a matter which is not a maritime dispute, stating it is purely financial and contract related.

The Court says the case is on breach of contract and therefore does not give the First Bank of Nigeria the right to cease the oil vessel and sell its content to recover a debt.

The court therefore slammed the FBN with a N5million fine.

You're in luck. I'm a lawyer who works in a mortgage bank

There are four options, three of which are government empowered.

1. Nhf: As an employee, by law, a percentage of your income is expected to be remitted to your housing fund with the Federal Mortgage Bank. You can use this to access various mortgage options.

2. Family Home Funds Limited: This is an initiative backed by the FG. Their rate is between 12-15%. This is mostly accredited by Mortgage Banks. The maximum they can finance is 100 million, and they are largely focused on females as well. Once you get approved, you have a moratorium for the first 5 years (i.e., you will only start repayments after 5 years)

3. MREIF - This is a package created by ARM and the Ministry of Finance. Their rate is 9.78%. They have the lowest rates. To access this, you would also need to go through accredited banks.

4. Banks: Commercial and Mortgage Banks give this. Commercial banks have lower rates because they are allowed to carry out multiple activities. Their rates are usually between 12% and 20%. Mortgage Banks, on the other hand, have rates from between 24% to 35%.

Note that the interest rates are largely affected by the monthly MPR issued by the CBN. Also, the products financed by the government are temporary, so a stitch in time saves nine, and they are not guaranteed, which is why I advise that you just get bank products instead.

1. Good credit rating
2. Equity: For government workers, you must have at least 33.3% of the total sum of money needed to purchase the property, while for Non Government employees, it's 50%.
3. A validly registered property.
4. Your age matters as well.
5. Management Fee (usually between 0.5% to 1% of amount to be borrowed, usually take from the sum requested) and Administrative Fee (usually between 500k to 1m)

Total Mortgage Processing time is between 3 days and 5 weeks. My mortgage bank does 2 weeks. The speed is dependent on your production of requirements.

Throughout history, powerful political movements driven by the people have transformed nations and eventually formed governments. From the anti-apartheid movement led by in South Africa, to the grassroots movement that propelled to the White House in the United States, and the youth-driven political awakening that brought reformist governments to several countries, one lesson remains clear: when a movement captures the imagination of the people, victory becomes possible.

The OK Movement is emerging as a similar people-centered movement in Nigeria. Its strength lies not in political structures alone, but in its growing acceptance among young people, ordinary citizens, and grassroots supporters across the country.

Nigeria has one of the youngest populations in the world, with millions of energetic and politically conscious youths seeking a new direction. The OK Movement's message of inclusion, hope, and national development resonates strongly with this demographic. In modern democracies, youth participation has proven to be a decisive factor in elections, especially when combined with strong grassroots mobilization and effective communication.

Another major advantage of the OK Movement is its organic followership.
