There's no money in prisons as well as no votes. But last year, sickness absence cost HMPPS 712,000 days with 40% being stress related. Make prisons safe, invest in staff welfare, training, leadership and you don't have to waste greater millions filling these gaps.

We can’t build our way out of this crisis. Next Government will have to consider executive releases, look at sentencing policy and review IPP sentences because there is no way @POAUnion will tolerate our capacity being breached.

If this incident does not improve the inadequate vetting , the insufficient recruitment process that doesn’t even include a face to face interview and overhaul initial training so its robust and weeds out those who are not suitable for the job then nothing will.
We need change.
