As Arsenal to the UCL, so Mexico to the World Cup 😭🇲🇽
Mexico holds the record for the most World Cup matches played without ever lifting the trophy.
Round of 16 heartbreaks, quarter-final dreams, but still no World Cup title.
Just like Arsenal F.C. in the UCL😭

18-year-old Lamine Yamal already has a La Liga Player of the Season award in just 3 seasons 😭
Meanwhile Andrés Iniesta + Xavi Hernández spent 33 combined seasons at Barça…
🏆 9 La Ligas each
🏆 4 UCLs each
🏆 World Cup
🏆 Euros
…but 0 La Liga POTY awards combined 💀

As Arsenal F.C. are to the UCL, so Mexico are to the World Cup 😭🇲🇽
Mexico has played over 60 World Cup matches — more than any country in football history without ever winning the tournament.
18 World Cup appearances.
60+ matches played.
Generations of talent.
Massive football culture.
Legendary fans.
Historic stadiums.
Yet still no World Cup trophy 😭
They’ve reached the quarter-finals twice (1970 & 1986), both on home soil, but never beyond that. Since 1994, they became famous for the “Round of 16 curse” — always good enough to qualify, never able to break into the real elite.
Mexico at the World Cup is basically:
“Hope, hype, passion… then heartbreak.” 💔
You are free to disagree with me, but let me ask you a question.
Why is the Amad we see with the Ivory Coast national team different from the Amad we see at Manchester United?
Let me remind you. Amad left Manchester United during AFCON while Ruben Amorim was still the manager. He joined the national team, played with confidence, and if I'm not mistaken, even scored for Ivory Coast.
When he returned, Ruben Amorim had left and Michael Carrick had taken over.
Since then, we have seen a different Amad.
Now, Amad has scored another fantastic goal for Ivory Coast, and I have noticed something.
When he plays for his national team, he is given a free role.
He is trusted as a key player and allowed to move wherever he wants on the pitch.
That is exactly how Ruben Amorim used to use him. Under Amorim, players would always look for Amad whenever they crossed the halfway line because they knew he could make things happen.
If you watched France vs Ivory Coast, you will agree that even in 45 minutes, Amad looked free, confident, and full of freedom in his game.
Is Michael Carrick's system one of the reasons why the Amad we saw under Ruben Amorim not the same Amad we see now?
Or Amad can only operate as a Wing back?
What do you think Michael Carrick should do to help Amad perform at his best again? Because one thing is certain: Amad is a very good player and we need the best form of Amad.
