@akaloha Yes, we have consistently advocated for better snow plowing, particularly of sidewalks and bike paths, which have been far more neglected than the roads.
Seven people have been killed on Anchorage roads this month. Last week, Bike Anchorage sent a letter to AK DOT&PF calling for urgent action, including reducing excessive vehicle speeds and adding crosswalks. We need your voice! Join our call to action:

@charlesfinley99 Minorities are often targeted at disproportionately higher rates for traffic tickets of all kinds (more so when the person is visible, e.g. outside a car). That is discriminatory enforcement. We would support automated enforcement as more equitable, but that is prohibited here.
@charlesfinley99 No, nationally it's been shown that jaywalking laws do not save lives. Instead, they only result in discriminatory enforcement, so we're better off without them.
And another yesterday with life-threatening injuries. Are we ready to stop this yet? Traffic fatalities are not inevitable, and there's plenty of information out there on how to prevent them (per the actions we list above).
We loved being able to safely access more of Downtown by bike this summer! As planned, the Downtown Protected Bike Lane Pilot was removed ahead of winter, but the project team still needs to hear from you. Take the survey to tell them what you thought:

@MattTunseth 6pm is still broad daylight. Have you considered that perhaps drivers should be able to see whole humans regardless of what they're wearing?
Come join us this Wednesday to say farewell to the Downtown Protected Bike Lane! It was a temporary research project, but we'll send it off in style. π―οΈ
Trail closure alert!
The road is the only possible detour at this point. If you drive through here, please slow down and watch extra carefully for people using the road.

Heads up, trail lovers! A section of the Coastal Trail at Point Woronzof will be CLOSED starting today (9/9) through Monday (9/16) for rerouting due to coastal erosion. We apologize for the inconvenience and can't wait to welcome you back next week!
@hoff4949 From what we've heard, those symbols weren't officially sanctioned, so someone must have DIYed them (twice!). Muni code doesn't allow that, so the city had to remove/cover them. We weren't involved, but we agree that bike routes need more signs/symbols to help point the way!
The Downtown Protected Bike Lane will be in place for just one more month! What do you think of it? What next steps would you like to see? Our take is here:
