I oppose those too. A tax on ownership is wrong at 1% and wrong at 5%. My position is consistent; your question requires one that isn't. Asked for a philosophical case, you cited a precedent — "we already violate property rights" is a confession, not an argument. Still unanswered: by what right does one man's need become a claim on another man's property?
@aishahhasnie@Brooketaylortv Love your story! I grew up with a lot of kids from Southeast Asia whose families became great successful Americans like you. What an amazing country we have.
@OutnumberedFNC@aishahhasnie That is such an amazing story, @aishahhasnie ! I grew up with a lot of Vietnamese families that came in the 70s, started a new life. Very successful, them and their kids I went to school with were 100% American.
A clean sheet for Matt Freese, the US men's national team goalkeeper.
TIL that he turned down Manchester United as a teenager to go to Harvard and study economics and computer science (this makes him spiritually Asian btw).
He's a legit data nerd too - models expected goals, builds Pythagorean expectation formulas, and did deep research on penalty-taker tendencies that gives him a real edge. He said that he'll publish the full findings only after retiring from football.
He's also Catholic so I'm guessing, his baseline is pretty based. Well done to him and Team USA! 🇺🇸
