@RealBigToshi Genuine question, why do so many Americans think football needs to get Americans to watch the sport? It’s already the most popular sport on the planet.
The mistake you’ve made here is assuming that revenue is the primary driver of sport rather than the sport itself. Aside from the fact that football is by far the most popular sport on the planet, the vast majority of the people who care deeply about it push back against the rampant commercialisation of the game, given that it prices working class people out of attending and cultivates an eco-system in which the rich get richer.
The United States and our stadiums have never seen passion quite like what we’ve seen displayed during this World Cup. What an incredible thing to witness
only eight teams have *ever* won and since the 70s it's been five teams that already won (germany, brazil, argentina, france, and italy) and the only new winner was spain. and only two countries besides those made the finals, the netherlands and croatia in 2018
1994 captured the attention and imagination of millions of Americans and, more importantly, inspired a generation.
Jesse Marsch is right, these players are heroes and will inspire the next Canadian generation. Congrats, 🇨🇦
From @TheAthleticFC: Commentators shouting “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL” for 60 seconds is just one of many reasons Telemundo’s World Cup coverage is incredible, even if you don't know Spanish. "The enthusiasm is unrivalled and scary, bordering on cardiac arrest." https://t.co/Un6OEfZVUq
This is what the World Cup is all about.
The world sees what it means to be #CONCACAFed. Concacaf countries get to share moments with traveling fans as we welcome the world. Loving the vibes so far.
Financial nihilism and economic uncertainty is growing across income classes, with a solid growing majority believing economic systems are stacked against them and have little confidence their children will have a better future than theirs.
Veamos.
