@the6_YYZ_4ever@BR_OpenIce Sent a message to the whole team….and to future playoff opponents. You might start something, but don’t expect it to end well. We’re here to play hockey.
@JohnForslund@UNC Congratulations, John, Kara, and the whole Forslund family. It’s definitely a team effort. Hard to believe it has been 26 years since that Mother’s Day weekend when I sat in Kenan feeling that same joy and pride.
@ChuckKaiton Mine too, Chuck. When I first started learning about baseball, in Baltimore in the mid ‘50s, the Orioles broadcaster was Ernie Harwell. I was very sad when he left for Detroit. Fortunately the Orioles had a string of excellent successors, especially the wonderful Chuck Thompson.
@kheadman@retrofloppy Sadly, this would never fly in many states, including one state where you taught. In that state, it would probably get you fired.
@LukeDeCock@courierjournal My condolences on your loss, Luke. Sounds like an awesome woman. Your family’s journalism heritage is amazing and I hope it continues through the earthquake that is shattering the industry.
@LukeDeCock I was thinking the same thing all through the playoffs. And other than Trocheck (a huge loss) and maybe Geekie or Foegele, I don’t think any of them would make the current Canes squad.
@LukeDeCock You are right. The game nickname actually makes it more memorable. And that 2006 SCF game was amazing, but since the winning goal resulted from a terrible misplay by the other goalie, it seems a bit less pure than what happened last night.
@LukeDeCock Interesting that all the others were on the road. No encouragement from the home crowd. Last night was terrific, but doing it in the opponent’s building is even more stunning.
@RichDubroffMLB Who am I to question Hyde? But why would he bring in his closer in a tie game in the road? Unless he planned to have him pitch two innings, you have to save him to protect a lead.
@SimplyAJ10@Orioles @AdamJonesPod Great exercise , AJ. Ten years from now, will any of our great youngsters challenge Brooks or Cal on this list? My opinion: If they stay for at least ten years, maybe. But if they aren’t O’s for life, their credentials would not bump our HOF lifers. But 2nd base is up for grabs.
@LukeDeCock Luke, I’m watching less and less basketball these days. Not due to player actions, but due to the incessant whistles and reviews. The game has no flow and takes forever. Combined with unmanaged NIL actions, it doesn’t hold my interest or loyalty.
