@engineeringolf @ButtrillCarey Maybe something to do with average score/differential? Typically the difference between handicap and average is about 3 for scratch, 4 for 10 HCP, 5 for 20 HCP etc. That could explain the extra 2 strokes.

@Roddygra @engineeringolf Fair point, but as a longer hitter playing courses shorter than PGAT length ... I don't have too many 200+ yd approach shots. When I do, I'm only a 3 HCP & not good enough to consistently stuff it within a couple yards.

@LouStagner @HarryColtEsq I did some rough math on stats the USGA posted at one point. It graphed pretty close to:
Scoring AVG (to par) = HCP X 1.1 + 3
These were scoring averages and not average differentials though.
