The real win: failure became data, and data became adjustments.
The grains came out clean, flew in Iced Cappogee at Launch Canada, and hit our regression targets in flight.
Thanks to everyone at CU InSpace who helped cast. 🚀

Casting: last year's foam box had no temperature control, so every crack was a mystery.
For under $100 I rebuilt it with sealed, form-fit insulation, an aluminium-extrusion spin base, and an Inkbird controller. It held ±1.5°C outdoors on a stepped cooling profile.
Then we flew it.
It came back charred, with regression on the spokes, but it survived the full burn in one piece.
A year ago it had come out in pieces. That's the win.
Thanks to SOAR and Peter Tarle.
#rocketry#hybridpropulsion
Last year's phenolic plate burned through mid-burn. This year:
• Stainless steel, for survivability
• Ceramic coating, built on a process SOAR shared
• 4 equal-area ports (after trying 8 and 6). Simple > complex
• Port area with margin over the throat so it never chokes
The highest amateur hybrid ever flown in Canada 🚀🇨🇦.
2nd in the Advanced Category 🥈.
15 ft. 6 inches. Paraffin and nitrous. 38,700 ft nominal.

First FPV flight. First crash. ✅
Planned in July, flew it two weeks ago.
Four packs on the Air75, flying lines day one, then a proper crash into the ground to close things out.
Sim reps transfer. But fly → crash → diagnose → fly again is where skill actually compounds.
Earned my Transport Canada RPAS Basic cert this week ✅
First step in the certification path alongside my aero degree.
Next: first micro quad this month, real flight hours, then Advanced Ops. 🛩️
Day 2 of FPV
Liftoff sim run
The Plan:
→ Sim reps daily
→ TC Basic cert this week
→ tiny whoop by end of July
→ first real clip by August
End Goal: rugged drones for the environments nobody else can fly. Wildfire, arctic, storms. Engineering + piloting, both from zero
