@mpelmann We have seen a significant increase in this error due to content either being completely duplicated and not helpful, especially when set to the wrong language. If set to French France but the content is in English.

Google is showing a French language page to people searching in French but you want them to see a Canadian page in English. Both are bad experiences.

@5le Great point - Google may still show a significantly better page from another market and Hreflang does NOT exclude non-local markets just demotes them as it did in this case - assuming your query was in the US.
