Traoré allocates $180 million to farmers to ensure Burkina Faso has abundance of food yearly
Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is seriously investing in the future of farming and he’s not doing it small.
On May 22, 2025, he handed out over $180 million worth of agricultural inputs and equipment to local farmers in Bobo-Dioulasso, kicking off the 2025–2026 agropastoral season.
From 15,000 tons of seeds to tractors, fertilizers, and motor pumps, Traoré’s message is clear, Burkina must feed itself.
This massive support package under the leadership of Commander Ismaël Sombié from the Ministry of Agriculture is part of a bigger push to make the country food self-sufficient and boost rural development.
