@mdfraioli Side boundary is a point as well so player must guard the sidelines. 3 hits, no double hits, as many volleyball rules as possible. I use a smaller court and keep teams to 3-4 players.
@BookSellingB Everything about this screams "I forgot my clothes better check the coaches office" Scooped up a heavyweights shorts, kept on the dress socks, found an unwashed tee in the bottom of your bag, and had to borrow someones shoes.
Only 25% of kids regularly play out on their street.
This number used to be 80%.
Adults have ruined play.
Why? Fear & Safetyism.
When we see threats everywhere, we default to avoid and protect mode.
And it's ruining our kids mental health. Here's why:
@BookSellingB Haha I think I was taught it by Paulson at a summer camp. Fun to do to high schoolers 40lbs lighter than me now. Other than that it ain't happenin
@LutherWrestling What are the chances there is one of the middle one left by next Friday? Picking one up right before seeing @dustincbalsley and bragging that he doesn't have one would be so wonderful.
Might be one of the best things I ever read on youth athletic development...this is coming from an Olympic lifting coach Don McCauley.
"I'm not going to spend a lot of time in this book writing about the developmental holes I believe most U.S. athletes have because of improper preparation for high level sports performance most have received. Let me state this. If you are a pre-teen or teenage athlete who competes in four or five sports per year or unending competitive seasons, you are in an abusive situation, not athletics. If you haven't taken or been given time to run through the woods or streets or alleys with your friends, jump up on rocks, jump rope, wrestle anyone that came by, skate backwards, play hop Scotch, bale hay or chop wood, climb trees, jump off a swing for height and distance, play dodge ball, climb over a fence, play Sandlot football and do back flips and cartwheels for fun, you haven't been properly prepared for high competition levels in true power sports."
