Truth slips out.
At BJP’s ‘Paribartan Yatra’ in Kanthi, workers, right in front of @paulagnimitra1 and Soumendu Adhikari - admit they won the Kanthi Lok Sabha seat using bombs during the parliamentary elections.
Is this BJP’s idea of democracy?
Delhi's diktats will never control our food!
In Bihar, @BJP4India began by banning fish and meat sales near temples. Then it extended to crowded markets, and now they're prohibiting sales anywhere near schools.
But Bengal refuses to compromise on her beloved ilish and chingri. We will not allow anyone to dictate or erase our identity, our culture, or our history.
I thank Hon'ble Finance Minister @nsitharaman for so carefully listening to my speech. Though I wish she'd listen as carefully to the people of Bengal when they ask for their MGNREGA, PMAY, PMGSY and JJM dues. The Finance Minister says I 'twisted facts.' Let me untwist them for her.
She's absolutely right, there's no GST on fresh liquid milk. But perhaps she hasn't seen the mother who can't afford fresh milk, who stretches her budget by mixing powdered milk for her infant. That powdered milk? 5% GST. Zero tax on what she can't buy, 5% tax on what she's forced to buy.
She's correct again, textbooks have no GST. But the graph paper a student uses for his/her math assignment? 12% GST. The laboratory notebook for the science practical? 12% GST. The crayons for the drawing class? 12% GST.
On healthcare, she's technically accurate as always; consultation and treatment are GST-free. But the oxygen cylinder that keeps a COVID patient alive? 12% GST. The insulin injection that prevents a diabetic from dying? 5% GST. The anesthesia for the surgery? 12% GST.
And yes, funeral services are exempt. But the agarbatti we light for our departed? 5% GST. EVEN GRIEF HAS A PRICE TAG IN ‘NEW INDIA.’
This, Honourable Finance Minister, is EXACTLY the problem I was highlighting. Until you understand the difference between what's written in the GST Act and what's written on a poor family's grocery bill, you'll keep living in your India while we live in ours. Thank you for proving my point better than I ever could.
Unnoyoner Panchali reflects the last 15 years of prevalent transformative and welfare-driven development in Bengal.
It was a great honour to felicitate the family of Late Kumud Ranjan Mondal, former MLA and hand over the letter of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.
It gives me immense pride to felicitate Dr Partha Sarathi Ganguli and hand over the letter and greetings of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. Such moments reflect our government’s commitment to honouring dedicated services for the progress of Bengal.
Every Sebaashray camp reminds me why public service must stay rooted in reality. Every decision, every initiative ultimately comes down to whether it makes life a little easier for someone who needs help. Sebaashray was built with that clarity, and at the Diamond Harbour SDO Ground, that purpose was visible in the simplest, most meaningful ways.
I spent time with people who came seeking care, listened to their concerns, and reassured them that their health will never be treated as an afterthought. For those in need, wheelchairs were provided so that dignity and movement were not denied alongside treatment. Sebaashray is not about one camp or one visit, it is about building a sense of certainty that support will be there when it is needed most.
What truly stayed with me was the affection people expressed in their own ways. The smiles, the waves, the warmth from those who simply wanted to be seen, touched me deeply. That love is not something I take lightly. It strengthens my resolve to serve with honesty, consistency, and care.
Today, Smt. @MamataOfficial laid the foundation stone for the Mahakal Mahatirtha Temple at Matigara in Siliguri.
From Jagannath Dham to Durga Angan, Didi’s contributions to strengthening Bengal’s cultural economy are undeniable.
This sacred new landmark will stand for generations as a symbol of Bengal’s enduring faith, heritage, and civilisational pride.
Today marks a moment of profound pride and spiritual fulfilment for Bengal as I laid the foundation stone of Mahakal Mahatirtha in Siliguri, envisioned to become one of the world’s largest and most resplendent temple complexes. Spread across 17.4 acres, this sacred site will welcome nearly 1 lakh devotees every day, offering a space where faith, heritage, and collective reverence converge. At its heart will rise the world’s tallest Mahakal statue, a majestic bronze form standing 216 feet tall, symbolising eternal strength, compassion, and spiritual awakening. Within its pedestal will be housed a Mahakal Museum and a cultural hall, preserving and celebrating the rich legacy of Shaiva tradition.
The complex will feature replicas of India’s 12 Jyotirlinga, twin Nandi shrines, expansive circumambulatory paths for thousands of devotees, and sanctified spaces dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, Shakti, and Lord Vishnu Narayan, in accordance with sacred architectural traditions. Through stone art, sculptures, and frescoes, the timeless story and glory of Mahakal will be brought vividly to life. Facilities such as sacred kunds, prasad centres, cultural arcades, and amenities for pilgrims and priests alike will ensure that devotion is nurtured with dignity, care, and comfort.
I also laid the foundation stone of an Ekalavya Model Residential School at Charkhole in Kalimpong, with an investment of Rs. 46.81 crore, benefitting nearly 80,000 people from Scheduled Tribe communities. I inaugurated the ‘Chaa Bandhu’ free ambulance service for workers in tea gardens of North Bengal, 17 childcare centres for families of tea garden workers, and 11 health centres in Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Darjeeling. Additionally, I flagged off 18 CNG buses of WBTC, 13 CNG buses of SBSTC, and 6 sleeper Volvo buses of NBSTC from Siliguri, with a total investment of Rs. 22.06 crore, strengthening safe, sustainable, and modern public transport across the region.
I express my deepest gratitude to all who will devote their labour, skill, and sincerity to the creation of Mahakal Mahatirtha, from our administration and planners to every worker at the site. It is through their commitment that this sacred vision will take enduring form. Every place of worship, be it temple, mosque, gurudwara, church, or Jaher Than or Majhi Than, commands our equal reverence, for unity in diversity is the soul of our civilization. I pray at the feet of Lord Mahakal for peace, prosperity, and well being for every home, and for Bengal to continue its journey of harmony, faith, and collective progress.
Har Har Mahadev 🙏
More often than not, distance, cost, and uncertainty turn treatment into yet another struggle for families already under strain.
Sebaashray works to break that cycle.
As #Sebaashray2 concluded Day 43 in Diamond Harbour, it reaffirmed a simple truth of responsible governance: healthcare must reach people where they are. Through consultations, free medicines, and timely referrals, care was delivered with dignity, not delay.
Starting today in Diamond Harbour, Sebaashray carries forward a clear commitment that signals continuity, compassion, and the assurance that no one is left to face illness alone.
In 2024, through the sheer force of their mandate, the people of Cooch Behar decisively consigned the ‘Porijayee’ BJP MP to political history by prefixing his name with ‘Ex’. And if the unrestrained energy and resolve I witnessed today in the vast ocean of people at the Rana Sankalp Sabha is any indication, Cooch Behar will lead the charge to completely rout BJP from Bengal in 2026.
The Bangla-Birodhi Zamindars have understood the power of the Gonodebota. That very fear explains their desperation. It explains why NRC notices are being sent from Assam, why our language and culture are repeatedly insulted, why Bengalis are treated as outsiders in their own land, and why there is a concerted attempt to snatch away the constitutional right to vote.
These Bohiragotos who cannot even pronounce the name of Roy Saheb Thakur Panchanan Barma with respect, who harass and demean our Rajbanshi brothers and sisters, will be answered in the only language they seem to understand, the language of democratic resistance. Their pride, their arrogance, their hubris will be reduced to dust.
Mark my words. Those who have had the audacity to mark living voters as ‘dead’ and erase them from the electoral rolls will soon face their democratic funeral.
I strongly condemn the shameful and unacceptable treatment meted out to our Members of Parliament. Dragging elected representatives on the streets for exercising their democratic right to protest outside the Home Minister’s office is not law enforcement - it is arrogance in uniform. This is a democracy, not the BJP’s private property.
Democracy does not function on the convenience or comfort of those in power. When BJP leaders protest, they expect red carpets and special privileges. When opposition MPs raise their voices, they are dragged, detained, and humiliated. This double standard exposes the BJP’s idea of democracy - obedience, not dissent.
Let it be clear: respect is mutual. You respect us, we respect you. You drag us on the road, and we will drag you back to the constitutional idea of tolerance, dissent, and democratic morality. This is our India. We are citizens by right, not at the mercy of a chair, a badge, or a position of power. No government, no party, and no Home Minister gets to decide who deserves dignity in a democracy.
