As the news, rumors and speculations about possible presidential meetings and other developments are coming in large numbers, I wanted to post this.

Ukrainians are often asked: why don't you just accept Russia's conditions and end the war? This is a small glimpse into why that is deadly for Ukraine.

We remember Bucha, Izium, Kherson and other Ukrainian cities that have been under Russian occupation. Everywhere, civilians were tortured, murdered, imprisoned, displaced.
Russia doesn't follow rhe rules of war and the Geneva conventions. It comducts genocide.

In this previously unseen surveillance footage, 70-year-old Bucha resident Volodymyr Rubailo is executed by Russian soldiers on Yablunska Street in Bucha, Kyiv region, on March 4, 2022.

The videos clearly show Russian troops wounding Volodymyr Rubailo with the first shot. Then, as the unarmed civilian was barely standing, they deliberately shot him in the head, killing him.

Shortly after, Russian soldiers began looting a nearby supermarket, while Volodymyr's body remained lying on the ground. They smashed the glass and entered the supermarket, stuffing stolen goods into baskets and bags, and loading them onto armored vehicles. To carry off even more, some Russian soldiers filled shopping carts and pushed them down the street toward recently seized homes of Bucha residents.

The murder of Volodymyr Rubailo may have been committed by Russian paratroopers from the 234th Air Assault Regiment from Pskov - specifically, a group led by Sergeant Vladimir Borzunov. According to an investigation by Radio Liberty, exactly his unit was stationed at the position from which, according to Ukrainian ballistic experts, the shot at the civilian was fired.

In a phone call with a Radio Liberty correspondent, Sergeant Borzunov confirmed that Russian troops were indeed responsible for Rubailo’s killing, but denied any personal involvement, as well as that of the soldiers under his command.
