In November 1981, Alpina took the M30 straight-six from the standard 635CSi and pushed it to 245 PS using higher-compression Mahle pistons, a new camshaft, and a reprogrammed Motronic system.
This was the era when Alpina's whole identity was built around being faster and louder than the standard car wearing the same body.
Recaro seats, a new gear knob, and a reworked instrument cluster inside.
Alpina Archives states that 2 have ever been built, that is not true.
This was Alpina before subtlety became part of the brand's identity - a coupe built specifically to be noticed, and to embarrass anything wearing a standard BMW badge next to it at a set of lights.
