BVGH is proud to work with the Ministry of Health in Kenya to continue enhancing national cancer detection, prevention, and treatment. We look forward to conducting further programs guided by this partnership and extend our thanks to the many influential leaders who work with us.
Hosted Bio Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) President and CEO, Ms. Jennifer Dent, for a productive bilateral meeting on strengthening collaboration to advance Kenya's cancer prevention and control agenda through innovation, sustainable financing and strengthened health systems.
Our discussions reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Ministry of Health and BVGH, whose support through the African Access Initiative continues to strengthen our response to the growing cancer burden.
We reviewed progress in implementing the National Cancer Control Strategy (2023–2027) under the Taifa Care Model, with a shared focus on expanding equitable access to comprehensive and high-quality cancer services.
We explored opportunities to enhance diagnostic and treatment capacity closer to communities, improve access to affordable, quality-assured oncology medicines, strengthen supply chains and leverage digital health and artificial intelligence to improve clinical decision-making, patient navigation and health data management.
We also emphasized continued investment in specialist training and institutional capacity to build a skilled workforce capable of meeting the country's evolving cancer care needs.
We remain committed to partnerships that complement national priorities and accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by strengthening health systems and improving outcomes for all cancer patients.
The meeting was attended by Associate Dorector of Global Programmes at BVGH Mr. Kyle Peet, Ministry's Family Health Director Dr. Bashir Issak, Director Health Products and Technologies Dr. Nazila Ganatra, Head of the Division of Pathology and Forensic Services Dr. Johansen Oduor, National Cancer Institute C.E.O Dr Elias Melly as well as Head of National Cancer Control Programme Dr. Joan-Paula Bor.
