Culture Club members were delighted to see the first results of their initial project. Their oyster mushrooms will be delicious, and this week will see a new crop emerging each day. Well done year 10.
Year 12 Biology students took on Mr Hipkiss' challenge of constructing an accurate 3D protein model based on their understanding of protein structure, and some very specific biochemical criteria.
Mr Hipkiss' all new Culture Club got off to a great last week, with students in year 10 learning how to culture oyster mushrooms. They are looking forward to seeing the results in 3 weeks time!

This morning, Year 12 captured and marked some brown lipped snails ready for recapturing tomorrow in order to estimate the size of the population here in the Cranedale woodlands. In the words of our Year 12s ‘they are so cute!’ 🐌
Some successful traps were set last night and Year 12 were very pleased with finding a vole, some huge slugs and a centipede as well as some other small invertebrates 🐌🪳🕷
Successful butterfly release with the Y7 Biology Club! They cared for their caterpillars so very well and we were able to release our beautiful butterflies into the big wide world 🌎🐛🦋
We had a huge audience of 35 year 12 students to listen to a very advanced and engaging talk that linked the structure of DNA with Mathematics and Computer Science today 🧬 #somuchmore
Today was a very popular Biology club! Year 7 performed their first ever dissection of a brain 🧠 they very much enjoyed identifying the different parts and are very keen to perform a heart dissection next Biology club!
