As techniques like deepfakes and injection attacks evolve, liveness is no longer an optional add-on in biometrics – it is essential to trust, security, and system performance. Being able to understand and explain these threats clearly to every stakeholder is vital.
Our latest explanatory graphic, Biometric Liveness: Protection from Presentation and Injection Attacks is designed to help you do just that.
This resource simplifies a complex topic, showing the journey from biometric acquisition to liveness checks, and where vulnerabilities like physical artefacts or digital spoofs can occur.
You can find out more about the graphic and how to access it here: https://t.co/cQRMCLWKtC
Strategic applications:
✅ For Executives: Brief boards on biometric risk using plain, non-technical language
✅ For Technical Teams: Align cross-functional departments on mitigation strategies
✅ For Policy & Governance: Support discussions on PAD (Presentation Attack Detection) and the Third Law of Biometrics – Know your algorithm
As part of our mission to promote the responsible and ethical use of biometrics, this resource is available in our member library.

Are you interested in using FRT but questioning if it’s the right choice or truly proportionate? Have you considered the risks the use will pose – including those you may not have thought of yet – and how to mitigate against them?
Facial recognition in public places continues to make news. While the use cases are vast, ranging from law enforcement applications to private sector security such as in retail, the decision to implement must be guided by more than just “can we?”. We must ask “should we?”
Our latest good practice resource – Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) in Public Places: Key Questions Before You Start – helps you do just that. The paper provides a structured framework to evaluate the feasibility and ethics of biometric projects before you commit significant resources.
While drafted in the context of FRT, the guidance is relevant for any biometric captured in public without the intent of the subject and helps you make a vital go/no-go decision at the start of your project.
Don’t navigate the complexities of biometrics in isolation. We recommend pairing the key questions with our Facial Recognition Use Case Matrix to ensure implementation is both effective and ethical.
