Mxps is an emcee that is difficult to precisely articulate what is special about him, because it’s not one thing; from the way he juxtapositions elements in his craft, to his multilingual eloquence, his beat selection & his heavily cryptic style😮💨 I’m a brother & a fan
I'll never understand this Illmatic "flopped" narrative. In '94 no one outside BIG was making music to move units. Nas, Wu, Black Moon, Jeru, Tribe, etc. were making music to just make dope music. Faith Newman or NO ONE at Columbia thought an album produced by underground producers was gonna go double platinum. Illmatic did exactly what it was supposed to do. Buls didn't try to start moving units and going double platinum til 96/97.

We’ve reached a point where everyone is a marketer, a critic, a publicist, an A&R exec ,all at once. So who’s just listening to music for the love of it. When the audience becomes the boardroom, nobody’s left in the crowd.
Yall need to go back to just enjoying things without feeling the need to tell them how their “roll out”” should look like and what their “branding” should be.
Just press play and jam and if you no like that one, find the one that you like

The lucrative phase of "Afrobeats to the World" lasted a decade. There are only a few main beneficiaries, but ultimately, the music industry remains in the same state - poorly structured and unable to scale financially https://t.co/gZ4RsOQmyo
