I’ve seen Osprey at the Meer before but usually they’re flying high above the water. This one was hanging out in a tree on the east shore for at least half an hour before a few hawks showed up. Got to see two dives just off shore, both successes. #birdcpp

No great photos yet but at least as of Wednesday the RVS-103 hawks appear to have taken flight. That’s the first time I saw no hawks at the nest. Other times I’ve seen one or two and I’ve seen a hawk flying south in Riverside Park below 94th, I think all juveniles. #birdcpp

Not a great day for photography but the RSD-102 hawklets are coming along nicely. In just a few days coloration has changed significantly with darker wings, red on the breast and detailing on the face. They’re bolder, perching higher on the nest with more wing flapping. #birdcpp

More 102 and RSD RT hawk updates. The kiddoes have started to develop black spots a few days ago and are now getting some brown coloring and starting to flap their wings a bit. I finally spotted all three at once. Warning: last pic is them eating a bird (young starling?) #birdcpp

RS and 102 hawk babies are now big enough to “sit up” in the nest and are visible more often. Starting a few days ago mama is not at the nest much as it appears priorities have shifted from protecting hatchlings to gathering max food. #birdcpp

The hawk babies at Riverside and 102 are now popping their heads up enough to be seen from the ground. The foliage is still thickening but there are a few reliable viewing spots. #birdcpp

The Riverside-102 hawks appear to have successfully hatched at least one hawklet. Mama has still been at the nest 24-7 but on the edge, very visible. Pretty sure I have a couple pix where I can baaarely make out a tiny eye and neck. #birdcpp

@GabrielWillow Thanks for that observation. 🙄 I figure give it time and see what the birds do and dispose of it if they ignore it for a week? A single egg with no nest sounds like a pregnancy mishap but maybe not.

We’ve had some Mourning Doves hang out a lot on our window ledge, mostly under our AC. I’ve seen them with nesting material but looked more like courting as no evidence of nest. One was chilling on the AC this morning, after it left I spotted this. Thoughts? @GabrielWillow ?
