Excited to be contributing to @FanSided with @BirdsWatcherFS this season
My horrible takes now live in more corners of the internet
First story today on how Coby Mayo’s lefty mashing bat could spark the O’s https://t.co/hbmtcciyfQ
@PigTownSports They're basically all coin flips. You'd almost always take two coin flips over one. But I don't think there's any way the Pirates would do this trade, even if the O's wanted to.
A bit worried that this will eventually push Cade Povich out of the rotation but the O's definitely need arms and I think in a vacuum Kyle Gibson can help. We'll see.
Death, taxes and Vimael Machín getting hits in the 9th inning of Orioles spring training games.
Here are The Machín’s numbers this spring:
.425 BA
.465 OBP
.600 SLG
1.065 OPS
This is like...you just don't say this stuff out loud, buddy. Keep it in the board room.
What an absolutely horrific message to send to the fanbase and the players here.
He was a really interesting prospect but hasn't quite put it all together.
In parts of 5 seasons, he's .237/.317/.376 with pretty suspect defense. Hopefully the O's can get that turned around.
MLB is bringing automated balls and strikes to spring training this year, using a challenge system like in Triple-A. The Orioles will play 13 of their spring games with the new system.
How do you guys feel about getting ABS into regular season MLB games?
David Rubenstein talked about about the current state of the MLB payroll (via: @YahooFinance)
— "I wish it would be the case that we would have a salary cap in baseball like other sports do, and maybe eventually we will, but we don’t have that now. What we have is a luxury tax in effect, so if you go over in a higher payroll, you will have to pay a penalty effect to other teams. It’s not a perfect system; it’s better than nothing. But at some point I expect we will have something closer to what the NFL and NBA have, but it’s no guarantee of that”
Amaya was an interesting name back when he was with the Dodgers and Marlins. Certainly a post-hype guy now, and he wasn't particularly good during his time with the White Sox in 2024.
We'll see if he can find a way to make the roster out of spring training.
