#scarpetta Ambitious? Absolutely. But sometimes ‘ambitious’ is just another word for overstuffed. The two timelines often feel stitched together rather than organically connected, and instead of adding depth, they make the story harder to follow than it needs to be.

I found myself constantly recalibrating who was who — especially with some of the younger casting — and the family drama often seemed to overpower the actual crime story. Critics seem pretty divided as well,
