Hi, friends!

I talk to a lot of traders who trade gold. I trade gold myself as well. And you know what surprises me?

Around 90% of gold traders have never even heard of the daily London Gold Fix.
Yet it's one of the key events that can significantly impact intraday price action.

📌 What is the London Gold Fix?
Every business day, London hosts a special auction that determines the official benchmark price for gold, known as the LBMA Gold Price.

The auction takes place twice a day:
🕥 10:30 AM London time (AM Fix)
🕒 3:00 PM London time (PM Fix)

During the auction, major banks and institutional participants submit buy and sell orders for physical gold. The price is adjusted until supply and demand are brought into balance. That final price becomes the global benchmark used by:
• Central banks
• Gold mining companies
• Investment funds
• Gold ETFs
• Large physical gold contracts

📈 Why should XAU/USD traders care?
Many traders believe gold only moves because of economic news or macroeconomic data.
But twice a day, the market receives a significant wave of institutional order flow.

That's why, around the London Gold Fix, you'll often see:
✔️ Higher trading volume
✔️ Increased volatility
✔️ False breakouts
✔️ Strong trend accelerations or sharp reversals as large positions are executed

The Gold Fix doesn't control the market or magically move prices. However, because a large amount of liquidity enters the market during these auctions, price reactions often become much more pronounced.
If you trade gold intraday, make sure to mark 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM London time on your trading schedule.
Even if the Gold Fix isn't part of your strategy, simply knowing when institutional liquidity enters the market can give you an edge over the majority of retail traders.
