bitcoinjs-lib → zcashjs-lib
The most used Bitcoin library for JavaScript/TypeScript now has a Zcash fork with Orchard shielded transaction support via Halo2 proofs.
bitcoinjs-lib is the foundation of the Bitcoin web ecosystem, used by browser wallets, Chrome extensions, React Native mobile apps, Node.js payment processors, e-commerce integrations, and DeFi tools. Any JavaScript developer building on Bitcoin uses this library.
The migration adapted 150 source files with 227 code changes, module renames, network parameters, address formats, and currency references, and generated a ZcashClient wrapper that connects to zebrad (chain data) and zkool (wallet operations, Orchard/Halo2 proofs). Zero syntax errors.
Any JS/TS developer can now clone the repo and start building shielded Zcash applications with the same patterns they already know from bitcoinjs-lib.

That might be the simple life for you rich folks, but that’s more than enough for me. Alone at fourth hits hard. Imagine being 60-65 with no one to share life with… Money isn’t that important….
another all time high in shielded zcash
so, now we have:
- zec hashrate ATH & distribution ATH
- more miners on the way
- zec shielded ATH
- the best quantum proofing for an L1 & privacy
- reduced blocktimes and sync times + scaling work underway
- new dev team backed by balaji, a16z, paradigm working on product, protocol, and wallet
- 2 new dev teams working on scaling and physics
- new payments teams spinning up
all at a time where the market need for privacy, quantum proofing, and internet-native SoVs is increasing
zcash is one of the very few things that keeps me fired up about crypto and its future atm
Shielded Labs is launching a series of incentivized testnets to test Zcash Crosslink under realistic conditions and hammer it into production-readiness! https://t.co/v8gJOrWMIH
Privacy coins have been beaten down by delistings for years. Now quantum computing just handed them a relevance narrative that institutional money can actually buy into. Zcash filing an ETF while BTC faces encryption risk is the kind of irony that writes its own post.
Zcash just became the quantum hedge trade. AltRank #4, up 11% today, volume up 79% on the month.
Google's quantum paper put every non-quantum-resistant crypto on notice. $ZEC is one of the only top assets built on zero-knowledge proofs.
The market noticed: ZEC price is up 11.2% in 24 hours, trading volume surged 79% month-over-month, and its Galaxy Score jumped 30% week-over-week.
Meanwhile, a Zcash ETF has been filed and Gemini launched a Zcash Mastercard. The narrative is stacking fast.

"It will not end well if we don't do something fairly soon."
bitcoin core has zero formal BIP for quantum-resistant signatures with community consensus. implementation takes 2-4 years minimum. google's shor's algorithm improvement projects secp256k1 cracked by 2029. if no BIP emerges by Q3 2026, the math doesn't work. that's 6 months from now. the mempool attack vector is the part people miss. even coins in "safe" P2PKH addresses expose your public key the moment you broadcast a spend transaction. a quantum attacker monitoring the mempool cracks your key and front-runs you before block confirmation. bitcoin becomes unusable before it becomes hackable. algorand already shipped Falcon post-quantum signatures in 2024. if BTC governance fractures on this like it did during the block size wars, the rotation to chains that already solved the problem will be violent.
Transparent blockchains face a structural problem as they scale: more activity creates more metadata, and more metadata produces better machine learning deanonymization.
@Zcash approaches this differently, with a cryptographic guarantee that strengthens as adoption grows rather than weakening.
This is wild. Google Research demonstrates a ~20x more efficient implementation of Shor's algorithm that could break ECDSA keys within minutes with ~500K physical qubits.
Google is now are more confident on a 2029 post-quantum transition. We are no longer looking at mid 2030s, we could have quantum computers of this scale by the end of the decade.
They believe this result is so severe that they are not publishing the actual circuits. They instead published a ZKP proving that they know of the quantum circuit with these properties. This is very atypical, showing Google thinks this is serious shit.
All blockchains need a transition plan ASAP. Post-quantum is no longer a drill.
📈BULLISH: $ZEC PUMPS 14% IN THE LAST 24 HOURS ON BITCOIN QUANTUM REPORT
The privacy-focused cryptocurrency has gained over 13% in the past week, outperforming several large-cap digital assets.
After Google's Bitcoin Quantum report showed major vulnerabilities in encryption of some $BTC and $ETH wallets, @Zcash took the spotlight centerstage for its privacy and high-encryption features
Zcash shielded pool is what we will use to save us from the quantum threat
Unlike Bitcoin, where public keys are exposed on-chain, Zcash’s zk-SNARKs ensure shielded addresses remain invisible
quantum can’t attack what it can't see
ZEC fixes this
Zcash is undergoing a scalability transformation never before seen in crypto.
So far most scalability improvements come at a cost, shifting a bit towards centralization.
Zcash is using advanced cryptography to increase performance without sacrificing decentralization.

If your goal is private money, you want depth.
ELI5: Quantum computers and quantum-resistant systems
Breaking cryptography requires finding a specific string of bits. There are so many options, it's like finding a needle in a haystack. For a non-quantum computer it would take forever and add some to do that.
But quantum computers work differently. They are like magnets that scoop up most needles. For them finding this needle, this string of bits, is simple.
Now, post quantum secure systems (including ZK-STARK) are like needles made of gold. They aren’t pulled by magnets.
1/ $ZEC and the case for private digital money
Financial privacy tends to matter more when technology changes how money moves.
That happened with bank digitization. It happened again with the internet. AI + stablecoins may be the next phase. 🧵⬇️
