The tragic death of George Floyd has reopened the wound that many are carrying related to race and the criminal justice system. We need to apply the lessons learned from the pandemic about the value of every human life to this situation.

I am happy to announce today that our churches will be reopened for Mass beginning June 13. Our parishes have some prep work to do & we will start w/limited numbers, but we will welcome this day to celebrate the Eucharist together again.

Brothers&Sisters, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision today to suspend all public Masses in the Diocese, out of concerns about COVID-19. I do not make a decision like this lightly. We are in a time of testing & we must find a way to continue to feed our people.

I am reflecting on a blessed week here in Rome with my brother bishops of Region XI for the Ad Limina. Our time with Pope Francis was a true gift.
