Lakers pick up the 9-8 win against the St. Patrick Irish!
Laker bats started hot and we held on in the end. Great outing by Anderson. Simon with a solid 3 innings to end it.
Mieras had a big day at the plate. Everyone else contributed as well.

Super Sky Point to Ryne Sandberg, my favorite second baseman of all time. I will never forget the countless hours tuned into WGN with Harry Caray and Steve Stone during those beautiful childhood summers that lasted forever. Before we knew how fast time actually flies and that our heroes don’t live forever. He could hit, he could field, and he did it all with class. Ernie Banks may be Mr. Cub but Ryno capably took that mantle for my generation. Somewhere in my heart it’ll always be 1984, Harry will always be three sheets to the wind while looking for blondes in the bleachers between pitches, and Ryne Sandberg will always get the clutch hit or make the great defensive play to save the day. That’s how I remember it because that’s how it was. Nobody ever wore Cubbie blue better. St. Peter, don’t throw this man fastballs. But I’m sure Bruce Sutter already told you that. #RIP
For those of us who grew up in the 1980s, there were two teams who were always on.
The Braves (TBS) and the Cubs (WGN).
By default, Dale Murphy and Ryne Sandberg became part of our childhood.
A piece of all of us is lost now.

We end the regular season with a 9-5 win over Eagan.
Friedrich with a 2 hits including a HR and 3 rbi. Schultz has 2 hits with a pair of runs, Smith also with 2 hits and 3 runs. Adam drove in a pair of runs.
Simon, Wukmir and Anderson were all solid on the mound!

Town Ball in Wac Town: Waconia Lakers top Plato 4-1. Bryce Anderson picks up the W in relief. @OwenAmrhein14, of SJU football/baseball, made some nice plays in center. Lakers had nine hits including this hard single by @matthew_mieras.
Lakers knock off Plato 4–1 at home. Solid pitching from Rice and Anderson as they allow only 1 run on 8 hits.
Bats started off cold but came through at the right time. Kalenberg, Adam and Simon power the offense. Schiffman with a big hit to get the scoring going!

Refreshing to see a pitcher dominate and then act like he has done it before. Masterful. It’s a tired act with the growing trend of showing up opponents with screaming, prancing, stare downs, sword slaying, etc. Yea, before you bash me as an old fuddy-duddy, you would be correct. If a pitcher feels he has to celebrate after every strike out or inning, that is fine, but don’t be shocked when karma visits more than you would like. JS. Remember, waking up a sleeping giant, with unnecessary words or action, can cost you and your teammates. Better off to methodically dominate. Just my opinion.
An awesome little video that captured a fun night at the park last Friday. Revealed the new banner that is now on display at Lions Field!
