Radix has incredible tech, but its tokenomics are a dealbreaker.

Currently, there isn’t a single staker who hasn’t lost their initial deposit. Even at an $XRD price of just one cent, they are collectively rewarded with around $3,000,000 per year for securing the network - distributed across all stakers.

However, if you’ve already lost 80% of your Proof-of-Stake deposits, that’s hardly a consolation. As the price keeps falling, staking becomes increasingly unattractive, and attacking the network becomes cheaper for malicious actors.

Why is that not considered dangerous?

And that’s exactly what I’m trying to solve with a dynamic Tokenomics model that isn’t rigid. Maybe you’d like to take a look and contribute:

The mathematical work is still in progress 😮‍💨. I would need to invest more time, which I unfortunately don’t have at the moment since I need to advance my own projects.

The idea behind this was to represent the static XRD token emissions, showing how many tokens are retained or sold on the market. Additionally, I’ve conceived an idea for a dynamic emission model linked to TVL, volume, and price. If there is more TVL on the chain, stakers should be more strongly incentivized because more funds need to be secured. There is a ceiling and a bottom for this. All of this is quite complex, as I want to account for dynamics and market depth (%) 🫣. This is where I currently stand, but I haven’t completed it yet. Perhaps someone on the Radix team would be interested in continuing the work.

I firmly believe that Radix has a real tokenomics challenge. Yes, I guess most stakers are currently heavily in the red, and naturally, they lose the motivation to continue protecting the network. This poses a security risk that should definitely be addressed - this is why I started this.
