Tuesday night reminded me why in-person still matters.
Spent the evening at the Q5 Strategies launch at Cafe Malabar. Great food, new connections, and the kind of energy you can't replicate over Zoom.
I spend most of my days thinking about AI. How to make agents smarter, more coordinated, better at understanding context. But nights like this are the counterweight.
No algorithm recommended I meet these people. No automation scheduled the conversation that turned into a real opportunity. Just humans in a room, figuring out who they like and trust.
Huge thanks to Usman N. Afzal, CFA Afzal for the invite. It's always good to be around people who are building something.
Philip Doublet, already knew you were crushing it, the team is lucky to have you.
And to Ernest Bednarz, Jessica Craig, and Sankar Nair: what you're doing for Victoria's business community is genuinely exciting to watch. Was great to be connected.
The irony isn't lost on me. I'm building AI infrastructure during the day and shaking hands at networking events at night.
But maybe that's exactly right. The better AI gets at scale, the more valuable these moments of human connection become.
Looking forward to what Q5 brings to Vancouver Island.
