Token burning is the process of permanently destroying tokens, removing them from the token’s supply.

On Solana, a real token burn is performed through the token program.

The selected amount is deducted from the holder’s token account and the mint’s supply is reduced accordingly.

Once successfully burned, those tokens cannot be recovered, transferred, sold, or used again.
