I didn't 'fall' for anything. I am merely pointing out that there was absolutely a culture within bitcoin that this asset is the only asset that matters and there were behaviors that came along with it, which was in response to the explosion of ICO bubble. That monoculture is what led to purity tests and rejection of anything besides bitcoin.
@MrHodl@CorySwan My definition is broad. There are plenty of people who behaved as if people using ordinals aren't Bitcoiners. Or people who own ETFs. Or people who are interested in bitcoin treasury companies aren't Bitcoiners.
I'm not only referring to crypto (where we're in alignment), I'm talking the wider market as well: equities, gold, etc. Bitcoiners vocal and staunch rejection of every other asset led many to miss much more successful trades. Is bitcoin different and better than these assets in the long term? I believe so. But the unreasonableness and disagreeableness of Bitcoiners as an in-group was celebrated. "Us vs them" mentality.
You're 100% right that being a carnivore has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but there was a massive culture of meat eating and gun shooting and other behaviors that the in-group associated with bitcoin. Is that EVERYONE? No, but beefsteaks are a great example. You get together with bitcoiners, you eat a bunch of steak.
Bitcoiners who've been through the Coldcard hack, Liquid drain, BTCPay Server incident, and Core Lightning vulnerability, now watching the rest of the world come to terms with the inevitable AI exploitation of the entire internet.
@CorySwan Bitcoiners wore "Toxic maximalist" like a badge of honor. You did, I did, many people did. Owning the derogatory term coined by a shitcoiner doesn't mean that it was an inaccurate observation.
@CorySwan Even a platform that had years without a sell button is a good example of the monoculture: "Never sell your bitcoin."
Fernando is unable to join so I'm looking forward to discussing monoculture with you on stage.
Introducing Bitwater: the water heater element that mines Bitcoin.
It screws into the electric tank you already have.
Physically decentralized mining that runs no matter what 🧵
Heat water. Mine Bitcoin. Same tank.
@LukeGromen@mmjukic You'd still need the hardware to run with your theoretically limitless energy. This, plus the difficulty adjustment means that it gets continually harder to mine proportionally to the energy being expended in order to do so.
