@IHOP Just got my first breakfast delivered in Georgia, soooo good! But a little note, I prefer sugar in my coffee over pepper, LOL (I got 6 creamers, 5 salts, 11 peppers, and no sugar...Still SUPER tasty, but now I gotta find sugar LOLOL) 🥰
@DevonESawa This happened in 1980. It was her favorite little anecdote to share, & my favorite to hear about. Now that she's gone, my brother reminds me about it whenever we get to reminiscing about our childhoods. I just wish I could remember it myself!!
@DevonESawa When I was a baby, Mom took me and my brother to visit her friend at his dojo, and Chuck Norris happened to be there, working out. He played with my brother, and practically begged Mom to let him hold me since he loved babies. She said he carried me around for over an hour! ❤❤
You are constantly exposed to ultraviolet radiation when in the sun. Sun damage happens in the winter and when it’s cloudy. UV rays reflect off water, sand, and snow which can effectively double your exposure.
The median age at which people are diagnosed with melanoma is just above 50 years old. Most basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas typically appear after age 50
However, in recent years, the number of skin cancers in people age 65 and older has increased dramatically
Knowing you are at risk can help with #sunsafety decision making!
86% of Melanomas may be preventable with some thoughtfully planning and preventative measures.
Squamous cells are flat cells in the outer skin, which are shed as new ones form
Basal cells are cells are in the lower part of the epidermis. They divide to form cells to replace the squamous cells that shed, eventually becoming squamous cells
Melanoma is more than 20 times more common in lighter skin than in darker skin
Overall, the lifetime risk of getting melanoma is about 2.6% (1 in 38) for whites, 0.1% (1 in 1,000) for Blacks, and 0.6% (1 in 167) for Hispanics
Melanoma begins in the melanocytes
Most melanoma cells still make melanin, so melanoma tumors are usually brown or black - However, some melanomas do not make melanin and can appear pink, tan, or even white

I spent this past week in the hospital after being found non-responsive due to low blood sugar on Tuesday. Food was horrid, but otherwise not a bad stay, nurses were fantastic! I received a blood transfusion yesterday afternoon, and was discharged last night! All is well, now. 😊

@MelanomaReAlli@MelanomaAction I was in the hospital this week because of my blood sugar being low, but the oncologist on duty ordered cts and a head mri, all of which came back with no signs of new melanoma growth 😊 1 year and two months since my last chemo treatment!
The ability to spread widely to other parts of the body is a unique characteristic of melanoma compared to the more common skin cancers, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma which only rarely do so. This characteristic makes melanoma the deadliest of all skin cancers.
Whilst this lesion on the foot may look like a sore or ulcer, it’s actually an amelanotic acral lentiginous melanoma!
With many benign conditions being very common on the foot, identifying a rare occurrence of melanoma among them can be challenging.
Whenever you are exposed to UV rays - every time you get a tan - your skin’s DNA is irreparably damaged
As this damage builds over time, you speed up the aging of your skin and exponentially increase your risk for melanoma
All sorts of makeup claims to have SPF built right in…it’s true, but the amount of makeup you would have to apply to get the right coverage would make you look a little…Costumed.
Always apply a sunscreen base under your cosmetics - even if they have SPF.
